What type of training prevented the officer from laughing?

Why the tape? What was wrong with the lines already painted on the ground?

There are lines all over that parking lot. The cop knew this would happen. Plus, he didn't even bother to help the guy. What a d1ck.

that's why they call that end of the tape the "dumb end". (carpenter saying)

Being on the other end of picking up jerks like this all night wears on you after a few years. We laughed but if you did it for night after night, year after year picking up the victims of drunks like this, am sure that the humor goes away fast.

It was funny to me but then its been over 10 years since I did Medivac for a living. Pick up enough body parts and it sobers you to a lot of things...

If the guy was sober he would not have had a problem putting the tape down or walking any line.

The cop was making a reference line that the drunk needed to follow. Doing an angled line like the cop did would be fine for any of us who are sober but a drunk person inputs information differently. The mix of lines will confuse someone who is impaired, but easy for a sober person. The guy was drunk and did not even take one step, so you tell us who was in the wrong here?

The "dick" was the guy who was drunk, not the cop. If this guy had been driving a car in this condition and caused an accident or killed someone, would he still be a "dick"??? Would he be a dick had he hit your car, possibly injuring or killing you or your family?

Think about it then ask yourself if you really need to drink and drive. My limits are two drinks if I am driving a car and one if I am on the motorcycle. Anymore than that and I take a taxi home. If this "dick" would have taken a taxi home like he should have, he would not have been on video for the world to watch.

I never said the drunk was not in the wrong. He should lose his license as far as I'm concerned. I do not drink so I have no sympathy for him going to jail or paying a hefty fine. I just thought the cop seemed uncaring for a person who just smashed his face and skull HARD on the pavement, doesn't matter to me if the dude was drunk. His job is to protect EVERYONE.

By the way, as few of us local Pelicans went out as a group last Sat night and I volunteered to be the DD. I do not need to be lectured about drunk driving.

I have no sympathy for the drunk. The cop didn't care about the drunk getting a bruise, but the drunk didn't care about the people he might kill by getting behind the wheel drunk. Thankfully the cop was there doing his job preventing the drunk from killing someone.

That was "tazer tape". Did you see how hard the cop yanked on his end?

Angry

The officer called for a medical unit that was obviously in the area (if you listen to his radio call).

After losing a 2 band members by a drunk woman in a Cadillac getting on an Interstate ramp the wrong way without lights and going head-on into a bus, and having my 1st wife being a victim of a drunk in a van hitting her at 50 MPH while sitting at a stoplight in Baton Rouge, I have ZERO sympathy for a damn drunk driver.
