From 75 ¢ to 128000 $

Not bad that guy from Montreal who bought that vinyl record at a New-York sidewalk sale at 75¢ and now for sale on e-bay at 128000 $...That's what we call a good investment...!!!

Un Montréalais fera fortune vendredi
06-12-2006 | 13h56

Here is the Google translation:

ON EBAY Montréalais will make fortune Friday 06-12-2006 | 13h56 Montréalais Warren Hill waits impatiently that finishes, Friday evening, the period of setting to the biddings of a very rare specimen of the models of the album The Velvet Underground and Nico dating from the years 1960. Four years ago, then studying at the University Concordia, the young man bought the disc in a sale of pavement in New York for 0,75$. Thereafter, with a friend owner of a store of discs with Portland, in Oregon, Warren Hill could determine that the disc had much value. The disc was then evaluated with 40.000$US. But since it was put on sale on Internet site eBay last on November 28, the object makes fury and exceeds waitings. Wednesday morning, 190 settings had been made, the last rising with 128.500$US. The model in question goes back to 1966. The album which in results left the following year. The group The Velvet Underground and Nico had been produced by the pop artist Andy Warhol. This last had carried out the small pocket of the album, posting a banana.

Best,
Grady

Actually it was an original acetate... pretty amazing find.

Best "find" I ever had was a $5 Kodak Petite art deco camera with original bellows, sold it for $425 US on ebay.

I had a good one, $19.99 for a toy transformer, Jetfire, in the box. Bought it as a kid, looked at it once, stuck in a stack of model car kits. Noticed it again 20 years later in with the model cars. Sold on ebay for $405. If I hadn't opened the box back then, would have been worth 2 times that or more.

My JetFire is missing his right arm.

That was my favorite Transformer ever. Especially because it was just like the jets from RoboTech.

the arm off my Jetfire broke too.

It was nothing more than a repackaged Veritech from Robotech.

Boy am I a nerd

I purchased a set of cufflinks at a swapmeet for $0.50 (seller wanted $0.75, but I only had two quarters...deal). The cufflinks resembled the Rolex "crown" trademark. I listed them on E-Bay and they sold for $75.00! Whoa! Wish I could make that kind of return on everything I sell...

I'm considering selling off my Transformers, G.I. Joes, Star Wars, He-Man and model railroading stuff. I'm not sure if now is the right time, but I could sure use the space in my garage.

No way, this was by far my favorite. Turned into a 935. I still have it, but I think I lost the windshield.

Of course my cousin had a pretty sweet big jet that was red and white.

+1. wow, does that ever bring me back to grade 5.

I remember a friend of mine got it first, at his birthday party, and I broke it. Had to buy him a new one from my allowance and he didn't talk to me again, until I saw him at a bar a couple years ago. It was the first thing he brought up, lol

i like the literal translating to english.

"the young man bought the disc in a sale of pavement in New York for 0,75$."

if he can make that kind of profit in a sale of pavement, think what could be made in a sale of bridge.

Before its done it should be around 250K....

These are 3 good scores...among the highest for renumeration. However I have COUNTLESS other scores where serious money and percentages have been made.

500 for 75K to 250K
1100 for 40K
550 for 15K

not quite in that valuable
but I got two records for a buck
one was a semi rare elvis x-mas album worth about a 100
the other was a beatles 65 with writing on the cover
I was about to reject that one as writing reduces the value
when I look at what was written on the album
the boys had signed it john and paul on the back
ringo george and paul again on the front [called 5 signed]
along with their A&R chic to give to a girl friend of hers
worth about 20k as per the roadshow apprasers
and the A&R chic on a USA records is proof the secratarys
didnot sign it for them as so many english labels beatles records were done

btw the real rare high value records are the ones you never heard of the song, artist, or label by people who get famous later in other groups

The record ended up going for $155,401. Makes me want to start shopping at flea markets.
