how hard to remove Bridgeport mill table?

I am looking at adding a Bridgeport mill to my tool collection. The problem is the door into my shop is only 32" wide and the mill won't fit through the door with the table on. So how hard is it to remove the table? What step do I need to take in taking it apart and putting it back together? I have used the Bridgeport many of times but never disassembled one. Please advise...

It's not too tough, but damn heavy. There will be a stop to remove, then just wind it all the way out until the threads disengage. Then, with a lot of help, you can pull it off the saddle. Be careful not to nick the edges of the sufaces that ride against each other or bind the work table when removing.

I'll bet you can download a manual that shows how to adjust and maintain your mill. I know I was able to do so for my old Altas lathe.

IIRC pull the cover off opposite the hand crank then unscrew it toward the crank. Careful these are heavy. You may need to pull some stops or push the Acme nut out. I cant remember the details but it is not a tuff job. I'll ask someone who has doen this recently.

Thanks. I have an engine hoist with a nice 20,000lb nylon lifting strap to support it as it is slid out. Should I lossen the gibs so It slides in easier or just leave them alone?

I am guessing the table weighs a good 300-400lbs.

I cant remember if the screw comes out the right side or the stops and nut come out the left. Have not been able to find any one else that can remember... I'll keep looking around though.

Be sure to loosen up the gibbs a bit and then re-adjust afterwards. It isn't a big deal at all.
