Children are great at spreading communicable disease. Hate to clue you, but this will happen quite often until they are out of school...

Yep...after our daughter left school and home, Cindy & I became remarkably healthier. I can't recall either of us having a sniffle for several years. But then, immunities do build up as you age, and we don't get "out there" as often as many do. Hang in there. Hope it passes soon. Silly tip...drink Gatorade, it's electrolytes rehydrate you better than plain water.

May Gawd have Mercy On U....

Two Saturdays ago I started a dry cough, I thought no big deal thats what happens in the winter with the cold dry air. I just couldn't stop coughing. Sunday afternoon or so, I started feeling warm and achy all over and thought OHHHH *****, this is more than cold, dusty, dry air. I started taking Ibuprofen, Ricola cough drops and hitting the Binaca breath spray for the cough. Also lots of hot tea with Lime and Honey. Monday comes and I'm weak and coughing, but not knocked on my as$. Tuesday the Cleaning Lady comes and I help out here and there, still feeling *****y bu not out on my a$s. Wednesday I just start to feel terrible, Thursady I went out to do some shopping for more powerfull cold meds and groceries. Friday another Bad day cant even sleep in my own bed as every time I nod off I wake up in a panic like I'm drowning. The only way I sleep is by sitting up in one of my living room chairs. By this time my nose is dripping and my cough is no longer dry...and I mena I am coughing so much my chest, stomach and back are sore from it. Well its been two weeks Saturday and its still with me, it seems like everyday the symptoms get a little less but still my voice is ragged, I'm still coughing and I'm still a bit weak. I would say overall I havn't been knocked on my a$$, close though for a coupla days but have been very miserable..

I started taking Vitamin E about 7 years ago and this is the first major illness that I've had..I would get sick for a day or two every once in awhile, like once every 1 1/2 years to 2 years..Before the Vitamin E I could count on getting 2 colds a year...one in May and a more severe one in November. Just like clockwork. I started taking the E for its Prostrate health benfits, and not as an immune system boost.

Airborne

Wayne, get Airborne this morning and start taking it every 3 hours. You should take it as soon as you start feeling sick, but this morning should still be fine. Since I found Airborne, I have not been very sick. You remain in the begining stages (tired).

I swear by it.

I've always thought that the flu vaccines make people sicker. There is a big anti-germ group of people at work. One woman will spray lysol in the air anytime she hears anyone sneeze. Some will open doors with kleenex. Most spend their lives going from home to car to building--they don't spend any time outside. They all get flu shots every year.

They also get the most colds/flus/body aches/and other maladies. One woman who started the same time as me barely goes two weeks without a sick day.

Me, I don't fret about germs. I haven't gotten the flu in 8 years, been two years without a cold, and have only taken 1.5 sick days in 6.5 years.

my sense is that the flu stick may cause in some a brief, but mild immune response in some, nothing in others, but will overall protect the person who receives the shot from getting a full-blown flu episode. but my 7 or so years working in biomedical research may make me know just enough to be dangerous.

Don't breath on the computer, I haven't had the flu in 15 years and haven't called in sick in 12 years.
My kids (8 and 13) and wife get sick, but I don't.
BTW I get flu shots once in a while but not as a routine.

IIRC, nyquil is your friend. Sleep until you feel better.

The flu shot contains only dead viruses, so it's not possible to actually get the flu from the flu shot. Your body will react somewhat to the virus particles (that's the idea), so some people may get a mild fever or muscle soreness.

If you have a full blown illness though, it isn't the flu shot. You probably picked it up somewhere.

My wife had it for a month, not quite as bad. The I got it, had to sleep sitting up or hanging my head over the edge to try to stop cougjing. Nyquil would give me maybe three hours sleep. Took three weeks to get over. good luck

If you begin drinking heavily right now, there is still a chance you might be able to kill the virus.....

My in-laws are both sick and my MIL is hosptalized with pneumonia. She's a smoker and had emphysema, so it's no surprise. Our entire family came down with the same URI right after Thanksgiving and we're just starting to get better. Be careful!
