Funeral for a Friend

Some of you may recall a thread from a few weeks ago in which I posted the pic below of my MGA next to a friend's Ginetta G4. Little did I know that that weekend's ride to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Deal's Gap, and Cherahola Skywas was our last.

My friend, Bob Kassow, was killed in the Ginetta in a head-on collision one week ago tonight. We laid him to rest this morning.

He was larger-than-life, always had a smile and a contagious laugh, and I am privleged to be able to say he was my friend. He is sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

*sigh* sorry to hear of this loss. Sadly the older we get, the more miles we put under us, the more likely we are to lose partners.

Damn shame

+1...and unfortunately true. I've lost friends to car accidents, plane crashes, war, and industrial accident. More and more these days it's disease. They all live in my memory, as your friend will in yours.

May he rest in peace. Sounds like he was a great person to be around.

My best to you.

Beautiful cars. I just hope that wherever we all wind up when this is all said and done, we meet again, and we get to keep driving cars like that.

Sorry to hear about your friend. At least he passed while doing something he loved, driving an old friend.

Sorry for the loss of a friend.

They don't think that the right hand drive of the Ginetta G4 was a factor do they?

So sorry to hear you lost your friend. Live everyday to the fullest. Death comes when you least expect it. He was kind to let you see your friend one last time so he could live in you memory forever on that day.

I don't know what "they" think, as I have not seen the police report. I also don't want to go out on a limb with speculation, but given what I know of the circumstances, it could have been a contributing factor. I have a RHD drive car myself and I know how awkward it can be driving it on the "wrong" side of the road.

The lesson once again is to enjoy your friends and families EVERY damn day. It is very easy to get caught up in the details/problems/minutiae of whatever you are dealing with at any given moment and miss the bigger picture. Dreading work tomorrow? Got something you don't want to deal with? At least you get to get up in the morning. Puts a whole different perspective on things.

Thanks again for the positive thoughts.

I am sorry to hear about your friend as well.

IMO there is something to be said about going while doing something you love.

Seems to me that this time of year has a lot of sad things happening for a lot of people. More then other times of the year. Sorry to hear about your friend Joe.
