First Michael Richards, and now Rosie!!!?

It looks like Rosie has now stuck her foot in her mouth -- again. I wonder if she will also report to therapy, do the talk show circuit repeating her apology and hire a few big-wigs from the Asian community in order to do penance?

I guess the big difference is that I don't see very many Asians using the term "ching-chong", either as part of comedy routines nor in daily conversation.

A liberal elitist has her own prejudices? Say it ain't so!

Nathans_Dad 12-15-2006 05:43 AM

Rosie O'Donnell is an idiot. I thought that was patently obvious to everyone.

My reaction to this is not what I would have expected...my opinion of RD is actually increased. She's not bowing down in submission before the PC Police.

As a lesbian, she is exempt from that requirement.

Z-man 12-15-2006 05:58 AM

Who even listens to what that obnixous woman says?

Who even CARES what she says?

Zing! True enough. Still, I think equating "ching-chong" to "n!@#er" is a bit much.

I've noticed a trend here... people that seem to be the most "offended" by prejudice are those that are speaking out because their liberal guilt wants to counter-act their own prejudices (the Ryan Phillipe character in CRASH comes to mind).

It makes sense. Think about it, who are the most outspoken advocates against homosexuality? Closeted gays, if recent right-wing scandals are any indication.

Nostril Cheese 12-15-2006 06:31 AM

yeah, really.. who cares

nostatic 12-15-2006 06:56 AM

what about RD's comment taking the piss out of Kelly Ripa?

Gee, this couldn't be about ratings, could it?!?!

the 12-15-2006 07:14 AM

yeah, she's a talentless attention whore who does what she has to do to keep her name in the media.

Spot on.

sammyg2 12-15-2006 07:27 AM

Rosie O'fatass? is she still around?

Iffn I were her I'd yell the upset Asian community to go pack sand. They are over-reacting, just like the black community over-reacts when a white person uses the N-word.
They are just words for crying out loud.

well I guess it's open season on the words "Christian", "God", and "Jesus" then...

Open Season!?!?

Those words have been used for good and bad since the romans finished pounding the nails.

Irrelevant to this particular rosie racist blast.

nostatic 12-15-2006 08:41 AM

you missed my point. It was said that "they are only words." If that is the case, then once should be able to put any words together...but I doubt that some here would appreciate the sentiment.

Nathans_Dad 12-15-2006 09:11 AM

I would point out that I don't think Rosie O'Donnell is an idiot because she used the words "ching-chong". Rosie O'Donnell is an idiot because she typifies the hypocritical hollywood elitist. She rails against Kelly Ripa for being a "homophobe" after Ripa made a joke on air, she rails against Michael Richards for using the N word and then proceeds to use her own racial slur and refuse to apologize for that. THAT makes you an idiot.

m21sniper 12-15-2006 09:13 AM

Comedians are supposed to insult people. This entire 'episode' is totally stupid.

Ching-chong. :)
