I have worked in very loud environments for the past 35 years. I have a doctor diagnosed, high frequency hearing loss. There are plenty of sounds that I just can't hear, including normal conversation in a room with other people talking around me. Due to what I wear at work, I can't have it in my pocket vibrating either. There are some things that I truly hate about cell phones, people driving while talking on them, people using them inside of shops and restaurants. People talking on them in a volume like they are two cans connected by strings. The lamest thing is those people that walk around with those things clipped to their ear, talking to somebody as they walk along. I suppose there are some valid applications for this, but I think there are a fair number of people who use these to try and look important.

Put it on vibrate...unless you are surround by enough vibrating things that won't work
