A tip of an Oregon hat to John in Louisiana!http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat.gif

had to go to work for a while.. sorry about the rant.. just gets me riled up when someone thinks they are better than someone else.. holidays, lack of sleep and way too much Sky Vodka makes you type stupid things. my family came from nothing. Father was raised on a one room camp boat. quit school in 7th grade. went on to be fabrication superintendent at world wide offshore fabrication business, real estate broker and own millions worth of property. we lived like we were poor and not once had the idea we were better than anyone. I still don't feel this way. even though I can make as much money as I feel like working for, money doesn't mean anything to me, attitudes do. somedays I have 10 grand in my pocket, the next day a few dollars. I still shop Walmart and other chain stores and never feel I'm better than anyone else shopping there. well, maybe a few.. years ago I would laugh at the guys with the attitude they were better than me... their wives would knock on my door in the middle of the night, handing me expensive presents they bought with HIS money, take off their expensive designer clothes, put their collection of diamond rings on the night table and crawl into my bed.. sometimes us low class, uneducated blue collar people have something to offer to someone that needs it. even if we shop at Walmart. be careful looking down your nose at the unkempt guy getting out of his run down work truck at Walmart. while you're hard at work trying to maintain status quo, he might be banging your neglected wife hhehe miss a couple weeks of work, lose your job, things go wrong and the money runs out.. you might be shopping there also

Chocaholic 12-25-2006 11:56 AM

Amen.

URY914 12-25-2006 11:58 AM

Maybe you should stay off the Vodka.

johnco 12-25-2006 12:00 PM

maybe you should lose the superiority complex

rouxroux 12-25-2006 12:20 PM

johnco, whenever I run into you, the drinks are on me bro!

welcome, der fürher...

Sorry, I'm with the diversity crowd. Grew up in SoCal and love the fact that I hear different languages everywhere. I never said a single thing about the people that shop at Walmart...I just don't like the corporation.

johnco 12-25-2006 12:27 PM

rouxroux.. thanks.. you native born coonass or a transplant? if you were born here, you probably understand why I'm doing this.

Hell, I grew up in a small Oregon Timber town...still live there. I understand why.

Johnco is one of the nicest, most welcoming hosts that I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He's a true gentleman, not to mention a genuine coonass (he made me an honorary coonass, apparently, I can never be a genuine one because I wasn't born there in Louisiana). Most of us city slickers would starve to death if dropped in the bayou. I think Johnco would probably have to moderate his hunting, skinning and fishing so he wouldn't get fat. Walmart is not Nordstroms, but then again, some things I would never get at Walmart, like shoes, I need better quality for the ankle support, so I buy Rockports at better stores. I buy my oil for my cars at Walmart cause its about 25% cheaper than Kragen. I'm sure most people who shop at Walmart don't go to Nordstroms, but then again, I'm sure a lot of people who go to Nordstroms go to Walmart to buy CDs, DVDs, and such.

What's my point of this post? Oh yeah, Johnco is a great guy and he'd give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. If you didn't need it, he say get your own effing shirt you lazy ba$tard! BTW, I'm the one with the hat.

johnco, my Mom's side was from up north, around Vienna/Dubach, my Dad's folks were straight Lafayette/Rayne oilfield. My wife's folks were Metarie and Slidell, so not 100% coonass, as I wound up growing up in north Ala. before moving back t LA in '75.

johnco 12-25-2006 12:52 PM

Thanks Hugh. and Merry Christmas to you again.. Actually I never was a hunter and do not eat wild game. maybe deer sausage now and then. I've probably lost 40lbs or so since you last saw me because of you know what. I can see parts of me now without having to bend over like I used to. bought new pants (at Sam's of course) one size smaller and they fall down now. Still looking for that shirt I promised you

I find it interesting that you believe in diversity yet you don’t practice tolerance of other's views. They should go hand in hand I would think.

And calling me "der Furher" is a little uncalled for don't you think, Joyce?

nostatic 12-25-2006 04:18 PM

feh...whatever.

You think diversity sucks. I think that sucks. Pretty simple. I tolerate your view, but I don't have to like it.

Hey, just because your "no diversity" viewpoint if lockstep in line with the whole master race thing, don't blame me...

You evidently want a nice white, well-mannered, middle class america...party on Francis.

I mean can you actually say that with a straight face and mean it? If so you are either living in a fantasy world or your particular slice of Americana is not typical.
BTW, see ya later Dan.
You're apparently in an awful hurry to play martyr so I won't stand in your way.

So what's important is that everyone is "sophisticated" in clothing style or life style, huh? The collective "we" on this board are the arbiters of that style with you Sammy the chief arbiter, huh? Anyone that happens to differ in opinion from you is what? In a fantasy world? Uh huh....a real reasonable point of view

As to your line about me being a martyr? Someone posts a line like this: "The thing I hate about Wal-mart is the Mexicans and blacks. When the Jews show up, it just gets worse." and I'm a martyr?

I first asked what the meaning of the green font was? If it was supposed to be some sort of tongue-in-cheek joke, well...I don't get it as humor in the least, nevertheless I asked and got no response. Since no one else seemed to take excpetion to a line like that I stated I'd just as soon not be associated with haters that would write that OR tolerate it frankly.

So, I'm the one with the inappropriate attitude? Well, I'm an American and I am also a third generation Mexican. If you got a problem with THAT, you're living in the wrong country; blow it out your...........

You seem to have misquoted me. Above is what I said. I never said it sucks and I never said "no diversity." I said I don't think it works. You seem to be getting all worked up about what you think I believe. You've been completly wrong so far, so just give it a rest.

Dan - I feel your pain. What started out being kind of a light-hearted, funny thread took a left turn. Have a great Christmas......

Bob, Thank you and I agree...some of these threads get a BIT edgy.

I sincerely wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happier New Year than the ones we've all been fortunate enough to have survived this year (so far!)

P.S. to Bob, I just flew home from Seattle this morning...extra early! It was gray and rainy and STILL pretty as good be. Congrats!

Should have gotten ahold of some of us. Although the 24th was very wet, today was kinda nice. i took the top off the Targa for a trip over the hill and thru the woods. The fun warden wouldn't ride in it, but we just took 2 cars....
