"In the hat"
For those of you who would like an education about prison gang life and street gang life without the risk of bodily harm, there is a great website called In the hat where a person named "Wally" has his ear to the ground. Most of the information pertains to the eMe, and there is some Southern/Northern California hatred, but you can learn a great deal.
I thought I would post it in the event that some would like a little exposure to the underside of ganglife. David

Glossary to some terms:
"Soldado" = Mexican thugster "Emero" = Mexican Mafia member "Sureno" = Southern California Mexican thugster "Norteno" = Northern California Mexican thugster "Clique" = Faction of a larger gang broken down by age and territory "Set" = Black gangmember faction of a larger gang (for example, "Bloods" have hundreds of "Sets" who mostly do not get along, except in prison) "Pinta" = Prison "Wila" = a note inside of a prison used to give ordersor commands There are hundreds more. If you go back several pages and spend some time, it is intriguing to me. There used to be a person named "Tijuana Jailer" who really knew his history. If you go into the comments/posts section, things get dicey very quickly and there are really not boundaries for respect. Go into it with thick skin. Anyway, enjoy if this is your cup of tea.......David

Interesting that you'd bring these government torture centers up out here. Amnesty International has studied US prisons and found them among the worse among any prison system on earth, and certainly the worse of any country claiming to be among Western Civilization.
Here's the catch, though, it's the government that sets standards and behavior in prison, not the prisoners as your posts strongly suggests. How about posting suggestions on how to improve prisons, and how to eliminate laws that create the largest prison population in the western world. |

Patsy, I would love to see you post some of your intellectual pearls on the In the hat site. Here is a thought, instead of worrying about people who CHOSE to victimize others, because as you most suredly know California only places convicted felons in prison, how about helping those who could use a little bit of help? How about using your "Southern Smarts" to help some young American citizens gain an education? Or are you too tired from delivering those presents on Christmas?
And just so you know, convicts dictate their behavior, not guards. Remember that "Freedome of choice" thing? David

There should be no such thing as prison rape, but there is. There should be no such thing as prison gangs based on race, by they not only exist, they're encouraged by the government "agents" themselves. Now, again, I ask you, post some methods you think would improve prisons and stop them from being the government torture centers they've become. |

You are so foolish Patsy, it is incredible. In your safe compost in the South, prisons are a figment of the imagination. Guards hold the keys, but the convicts dicate the behavior.
Regarding prison rape, I agree. It should never occur, but it sometimes does. The gang issue you bring up is a joke. There is no way to stop individuals from forming gangs. While in your military unit, did you have a sense of pride to make your unit the best? Gangs exist to commit crimes. I don't know if there is an "all purpose" method to control people's behavior. You should take a tour of your local prison. You would be surprised at home "non-torturous" they are. Spend some of your valuable time on that site. You will get a feeling of the attitude of some thugsters. Back at you Santa, David

Yes it was name-calling.
And you know nothing about prison. Period. Come back when you are able to converse intelligently on the subject.

David,
In another thread you mentioned you'd take a, "ride along". If you don't mind, the next time I'm in SoCal, probably in Feb/Mar, I'd like to take you up on the offer. I've done some interesting things in my life, but a ride with you, frankly, will no doubt make me wish for night landing on the back of a frigate in sea state 5! I enjoyed the link as well...very calm and rational discourse. Unfortunately some of my friends from HS in SoCal fell prey to gangs.

Now aren't we all happy to have such a long-standing unregulated immigration policy which corporate America imported, and Bush legitimized?
