Honda Snowblower Help - Solved - Thank You
Picked up a honda snowblower from my neighbor.
It ran for a few minutes, then cut off like it wasn't getting fuel. The gas might be old but wouldn't think this would cause it to just cut off completely. Any thoughts? It has a gas on/off switch which is in the on position. I can't seem to figure it out before tearing it apart. I don't have a service manual so hard for to tell. Any one have any experience with them? Did I mention that we are getting two feet of snow right now. Michael

Can you remove the float bowl?
It doesn't take much gum to plug up the needle. Usually the needle gets stuck in the seat. You would have burned the little bit left in the bowl. but with the needle stuck, no more will flow to replace it...

Thanks for the advice. I'll start pulling that off and take a look. Would cold weather effect it. When I changed the oil in it, it ran without a problem. NOw that it's cold, no gas.

Others may recommend against this, but for my snowblower, I keep a can of ether and give it a quick shot if it's finnickey. Of course mine gets used every 4 years...

Well, it definitely has something to do with the float bowl. When I remove, the gas comes right out the little nozzle. Seems to be working fine now.
Is the thought that something keeps clogging it up? Or, is the float defective. Never dealt with small engines so I'm learning as I go. Lost the pull cord now (frayed off) so I have to get a new cord. Michael

If fuel flows when the float drops (I'm assuming it hangs when installed) and stops when you push it up against the seat, then it's working properly. Small engines are no different than large engines, there's just less 'stuff'...
It really doesn't take much crud or sludge to stop the flow. I used to keep a 10mm wrench in my car when I first got it running to clean the idle jets every 15 miles or so.... ![]()

Once again, thank you for all your help.
Once I pulled the float bowl, and really cleaned out the port with carb cleaner, it started working. Poured some carb cleaner in with new gas and it's running like a champ. We aren't quite dug out from the last snowstorm and the next one is on it's way. Their predicting only 18 inches, which is a lot less than the 30 we just got. Wouldn't trade living in Denver for anywhere though. Michael
