Can someone post a link to the thread Pat was reprimanded for? (or at least give a brief description of it) I have been away from PPOT alot lately for X-mas stuff with family.
Pat's politics are extreme and often distasteful, but based on his similar interests in things non-political, he and I could probably BS for days on end in person so long as politics did not come up. I don't think I could say the same about Rodehard though.

Some of their closely held ideas are then reinforced by military service, that enable's them to carry them into adulthood, in fact tells them that it's honorable to hold onto such ideas. Confusing the US government for America is a prime example. The two are not the same, a fact that the founders repeatedly stated long ago. But, it's my opinion that there are no "bandwidth" wasters here, though I do get tired of seeing just another post concerning some possible winner of a professional sports contest, I don't view it as a waste of bandwidth, and usually don't look at the message. Borrowing a line from the movie "Big Jake", "Jake McCandles, I thought you was dead." John Wayne as Jacob McCandles, "Not hardly." So, "fastpat, I thought you was dead." Not hardly. |

You boys need to study your US history a bit more. Pat's ideas are as American as apple-freakin'-pie. Many come directly from the founding fathers (who were, by definition, revolutionaries). A lot of his beliefs have gone out of fashion - and some went out of fashion 150+ years ago. But the deeper issue of when/where/how the citizens of a democracy can/should tell their government to go eff itself is far from resolved. Call it the struggle between individual freedom vs collective responsibility or call it the right to secede. Either way the issue should not be dismissed.

BTW - My vote for the biggest waste of bandwidth goes to Joe and Shaun. Even though I consider Shaun to be a good personal friend, I will never get back the hours I lost reading through all of the drivel about the mother freaking check. It was like a train wreck that never seemed to end - and was far more of a WASTE than any political argument.

2) "Pat's ideas" is in quotes because most of his incessant posts aren't even his own original ideas, but mindless cut and pastes from various blogs. Everyone has political beliefs, and everyone can find blogs that support that belief. What a waste of time. Imagine if every liberal, conservative, libertarian, objectivist, etc. etc. etc. posted 15 cuts and pastes from their favorite blog sites every day? Waste of time. 3) "Pat's ideas" aren't as scary as they are predictable and posted in an overly repetitious manner. I think everyone gets the idea by now. That's why he gets my vote. It's not related to the substantive content at all. |

Indeed, I agree with Pat much much much more than he would ever know, but his delivery is so distasteful that I can't bring myself to back him up.

I post them in support of my ideas, much like posting footnotes on a research paper in support of the thesis. |

I can't say he was reprimanded, more like ostracized. I say that having an excellent command of the language on top of being well informed are neither necessarily signs of intelligence. At least the kind I appreciate. I see successful politicians that are great orators and seem to understand what's going on, but they are terribly misguided and irrelevant. They seem to have no common sense, to me the form most associated with superior intelligence. A sociopath may be one who acts out reckless and harmful deeds without remorse. A misanthrope who lobs provocative idealisms from right field might very well be nothing more than a lonely iconoclast. |

"Further, calling my posts from blogs mindless merely indicates that you don't understand what they say,"
Didn't take him long to call someone stupid Steve

That, combined with the incessant pasting and more sinister portions of his agenda (literally, not figuratively destroying government - read: blasting caps) make him about as popular as tabs was at the ................. site. Many of "his" ideas I'm fine with.

The US government will die when people start laughing at it every hour of every day, when we cut off most if not all of the funding of it, and people start forbidding it to kill anyone. Blowing up buildings would strenghen government, that's the last thing I'm interested in accomplishing. Glad I've helped you out here. |

hey Pat
Some of us are still waiting for your smart a$$ response to this "Pat, You are on a short leash. I suggest you find another forum to post your outrageous stuff. This isn't the place for it. I've read your posts these past few weeks and many of them are not what I want associated with Pelican Parts (calling for the death of US soldiers, for example). Regards, Scott" Nothing but silence from you on that thread. How come you have not shown Scott the same disrespect you show everyone else on this board? Are you afraid he will take away your bully pulpit? Your a coward Steve
