What am I missing ??

I hope the mods don't get angry for me cross posting this, but I want to maximize my responses.

HERE in the "Marketplace" forum, I asked the same thing... what am I missing?

Is there something so very wrong with a 1975 that it should be a throw-away? (it is a targa, after all...)

Or do we all think there is something nefarious afoot?

Comments?

(did my posting this just eliminate my chance of snagging the deal-of-the-day?)

I have thought about checking it out further. What is wrong with a 1975 and cookie cutters?

LOL, I don't think many are scared of decent cars at below market prices.

This one is odd. If you do a search on his name, you'll see he has around 28 posts going back over 6 months, and most are related to trying to unload this car.

If the car is legit; meaning it runs well, shifts well, and isn't full of rust... then I would go down this weekend and possibly buy it (subject to a thorough PPI)

Between the low price and the multitude of ads, it seems like this is a case of "unload this POS as quick as possible". I hate to drive down to Canaveral just to kick tires on somebody's junker. (I have 2 junkers of my own that I can kick )

EDIT:
Yeah... what "the" said.

The only way to know, of course, is to make the drive and check it out.

My gut guess: Something is wrong. You'll see when he put up some fuchs for sale for cheap, they sold in 7 minutes. There are a lot of people constantly scouring these classifieds for the "steal-of-the-day," either to buy and keep or to buy and flip. The fact that this one has been going for 6+ months means something is likely very wrong, IMO.

The ad sure reads nice, though (although I don't see any mention of the rust situation).

Check it out and let us know! Would be interesting to hear about it.

Although there may be hidden rust issues that near the ocean...it looks like a pretty nice car. It also depends on where you live...because: 1)You have to get it home and 2)Some places you have to worry about emissions in a '75 and not a '74 which you can usually find for about the same price/condition. My rustfree '74 cost $5,700 in about the same condition with nice fuchs, but without sport seats....The problem is...like all Porsches, it becomes a $20K car eventually. A fresh souped up 3.0, SSIs, freshly redone sports seats, modern working A/C, 7 inch fuchs, and other misc got me there rather quickly....and I still need some paint and suspension work. While I love my car, it is not finished at $20K+...and I wonder what that would have bought me.
