Insanity
Insanity can be defined as repeating the same action but expecting a different result.

"Moreover, while new federal guidelines call for raising houses to reduce the damage of future floods, most returning homeowners do not have to comply or are finding ways around the costly requirement, according to city officials."
Even the new federal guidelines are crap. They cut the baby in half on this one and compromised on a height that is way too low. Private owners with private insurance can do what they like. But you know the taxpayers will have another large bill down there one day... |

Another genius Democrat pandering to the morons that will continue to elect him, in spite of everyone's best interests. They deserve each other. Next time Nagin and the rest of those idiots should be on their own. Where the hell is the adult supervision on this one?

Hey, people keep rebuilding in Kalifornia after a mudslide wipes their 5 million dollar home off a cliff or an earthquake swallows their shiit up whole....so why not in new orleans.
![]() The weather may suck here in the rustbelt, but at least mother nature is not constantly trying to efff us up. LOL. Last edited by m21sniper; 01-04-2007 at 09:58 AM.. |

Ohhh...I don't know....I lived in upstate New York and saw a lot of Winterstorms (ice storms and blizzards) cripple major cities for extended periods of time. Each location has its own unique dangers. Out here we have the problem of shoveling sunshine off the driveway......
(But it's a dry heat....)

Hmm, the worst thing i've seen here in Pa in my almost 40 years is 40" of snow and a really crazy ice-storm.
Compared to the natives, the weather is easy to deal with. Especially now that we have 60 degree F winters. ![]() |

I left the Northeast because of the Winters. Most of my interests require being outdoors. Since the Winters in upper NYS were damp, cold, grey, lots of snow and ice, etc, my relocating gets two years of oudoors for every year of life rather than only a half year per year. Yeah,,,when I was younger, I skiied, and all the rest of the Wintry things. Age and a few broken bones cured me of that, and many pratfalls walking down the street to the busline due to overnight freezes of the knee deep snow that fell a few days ago and thawed, froze, thawed, froze, you get the picture. I have friends all over this great nation. All of them have positives and negatives about their chosen home state. The east has some beautiful vistas, and summers are generally pleasant except for the bugs. Falls are beautiful, and the first snowfall isalways a treat. After that.......
I can look out my patio door and, 18 miles away, I can see the snow covered peaks of the Catalina Mountains, the site of the lower 48's southernmost ski facility. Less than an hour and a mile and a half higher I can have all the Winter I will ever need. 60 degree winters? When do you want that truckload of Cacti sent? Have you decided on how many palm trees you want?
