The weather this winter and El Nino, what happens this summer.

Well known to us here in the Mid Atlantic states is that this winter has been the warmest on record with , to date, less then 1 inch of snowfall. The long term prediction from the El Nino derived weather is that the summer of 2007 will be the warmest on record. Damn, my AC removal project!

Get used to it . . .

Global warming doesn't mean every year will set a heat record - temperatures will fluctuate around an average, as always - but they will fluctuate around an average that steadily rises each decade.

We had a winter like this around 9-10 years ago.

Resulted in a massive flea infestation. If you had a dog/cat you were one unhappy mofo.

It affected every single person that I know who had an indoor/outdoor pet.

We're not talking uncomfortable pets, we're talking whole house infestations.

Was one of the worst summers I've ever been thru.

Get the Frontline on early this year.

It's 60 deg in SYRACUSE. If this is global warming, sign me up!

At the station the other night we were planning drills for the upcoming months and added 2 additional wildland fire drills, with the expectation that (i) it will be more dry here than usual, not having had the 130" of snowfall we're used to; (ii) it will likely be warmer than usual in the spring, pre-heating ground that won't have been "frosted"; and (iii) the region has not had a fire in decades, so there is plenty of easily ignitable fuel in the woods/interface region ready to go up.

I'd look for at least one rip-roarer of a wildfire in the East/Northeast.

El Nino = virtually no hurricanes.

I can deal with that. We need a break in the Southeast for a few years until I can convince my wife we need to move to NC.

Ohio, just south of Michigan did not get cold enough to kill the larve of many insects (back then). Farmer's crops in the spring suffered.

How soon we forget! You are exactly on.

This IS a classic El Nino. Has been happening as far back as I can remember. I have no global warming ax to grind, so I am enjoying the weather. The rain and snow WILL come, just later than usual.

Funny, you don't see any tree huggers in Colorado yelling about global warming.

Tomorrow is supposed to hit 69 here in NYC.

I've noticed a lot of mosquitoes around my house, so I'm NOT looking forward to the bug situation this spring.

One benefit, I still haven't put on my snow tires!

No sheat, it took me over 2 hours to get to work today, and I am hearing another storm at the end of next week. Possible a bad as the one a couple of weeks ago. I am about to snap.

I had an appointment for the 92 turbo today, I had to get it flat bedded since I can't get out of the neighborhood (oh and it wouldn't start either).

Typically I only have to worry about the other idiots on the road, now I have to worry even more about them and the condition of the road.

Enjoy the weather while you can.

Bill
