It very well could have been, i seem to remember a personalized one was on the car for the New West piece. He had cut through a staggering amount of cars by that point so it was a blur.. in the twenties perhaps a few of them were killed on Mul like the Pinto and his 68 camaro. The one IMO he really went the quickest in was his 69Z-manual steering and all.

John had a personalized plate made that said RCEMUL. He wanted MLHLND but it was taken ;)

He used to work on his 911 at my house while I was working on mine. John acquired turbo steel fender flares from Mitcom and I welded them on his car and applied Bondo. He got it painted at OneDayPaint I believe in Van Nuys.

John beat that little 911 like there was no tomorrow. One time he broke the oil pump driveshaft and drove it home from the Racecource with no oil pressure.
It didn't blow up somehow and he had a fellow Racer from the CRE rebuild it.

I think he bought the Pinto from Bruce Thomas after Bruce bought a 911. Bruce put a lot of good parts in that Pinto.

Here's a photo taken around the same time of John standing proudly by his newly painted Porsche Racecar.

We had finished all paint prep here in my driveway just where this photo was taken.

Mark, the photo you posted looks very much like you guys were bringing it home from the paint shop that day.
John hadn't added the front plate, window clips, chrome headlight bezels and other details yet.
Is that possible?

Chris, to answer your question about how the RS America would do against a 997.2 gt3 in a hill climb, the RSA would get absolutely slaughtered. The American version of the RS back in the early 90's, when it was sold here, was nowhere near the lightweight version that was offered in the rest of the world (ROW). I think they are great cars too, don't get me wrong, but I remember reading in several publications at the time that the RSA was only about 25 or 75 (I am tending to think it was 25) pounds lighter than a regular Carrera 2 back then, and a few hundred pounds heavier than it's ROW counterpart. Of course, there are a few tricks to suspension and engine (not much) to set it apart from the "normal" Carrera 2 version, but surprisingly not a very big difference. It was all marketing!
Beautifully clean example, though! The trick RSA's were the ones that had the LSD, no sunroof and no air cond as their options...

Earlier this year, we told you about Underground Racing, a shop in Charlotte, N.C., that makes a business out of upgrading Lamborghinis with twin turbochargers to boost engine output to more than 1,000 hp.

Now, a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera upfitted by Underground Racing cracked the 250-mph mark at the Texas Mile event.

Car owner Richard Holt made the 250.1-mph run in late March, but video was posted just this week.

I know everyone wants to do everything by the book, but with how rarely you drive the RSR, you would think no one would ever notice or care. Its your real "number" and the one assigned to the car. I would think any cop who see this on your registration will be satisfied.

Good to know Alereck, thanks for posting.
Once I am catching up, I may just apply for the old plate status.

The current registration has a (R) for reflective license plates and if a cop is unhappy with my driving habits (heh, heh), pulls me over, and sees that I have a non- reflective plate I may in more trouble than I had bargained for.

Gotta keep it as legal as possible. There is a no tolerance attitude these days. No more stern talks and letting you go. I got stories to tell about that, lol.

BTW, I took a run on friday night. That new patch is smooth. Would be nice if the whole road was.
