take the money and RUN car prices are way down compared to a year ago , that will get you a very nice car ... oh BTW keep some in reserve ,, the other shoe has to drop , you may need most of that money for future premiums :)
|
wow I just npoticed the dates .. it was of course the Orange county antagonist that restarted the thread,
|
That will buff out with a little elbow grease.

The OP can report a post to the mods/admins if he likes. |
Only reason he'd want to close it is if he got himself busted for having done something stupid.

Your should post the Blog before taking things potentially out of context. It looks like you are just trying to get a rise out of people for the fun of it, not cool http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/nono.gif If he was drunk and trying to scam the Insurance Company then that is also not cool, however making accusations on forums without the facts is bad form. |

I know this probably varies by state, but if you were going to buy a replacement couldn't you count the totaled car as a trade-in and avoid some sales tax? Technically I think you sell the car to the insurance company. In my state you can count any car you sell within 30 days of a purchase as a deduction towards sales tax.

I was having dinner with a friend, had some drinks and while driving home it started raining. *It was about 8:30pm in December of ‘06 and I was making a right turn from Powell onto Broadway. *I*accelerated in second gear and immediately realized I still had my summer tires on. I was going about 55mph and hydroplaned to the left and smacked my right rear fender super hard into the center column at the base of the tunnel. *The airbags deployed, the seatbelt held but I crushed my right hip into the belt attachment so hard that it left a bruise the size of a toaster! *My friend and I decided to make a run for it since I would have gone directly to jail with a DUI. *The problem was that the car was blocking the traffic into the tunnel and cars behind me were starting to honk. *It eventually got towed.**I made it home and Phat Kat was hanging out listening to some music. *He said “Man, you guys got enough money to just leave a Porsche on the road?!” *Well, no, but I had full coverage so I was okay. *Thanks AAA!!! *I’ll post up what I got with the insurance money later. |
Still wondering why you care, sammy.

Wow-that's a pretty wicked admission. I certainly hope there's no insurance fraud - that supposedly gets ugly fast.

It is insurance fraud. Cant see an Insurance Company pay out if you are over the limit. More to the point, what was he thinking posting that on a blog? To defend Sammy, perhaps he is bothered because ultimately everyone pays for drunk drivers. |
I love the comment about summer tires as no one changes their tires out in the Bay Area from summer to winters like they do in the mid west. What I think he meant to say was something this: I nailed it in second gear, lost control and stacked my car into a cement pole. Lots of us have hydroplaned in our cars, but the last thing were thinking about when the car is getting sideways is that I have my summer tires on. At that point were correcting and saying: “Oh ****!” Or in his case: “Oh **** I’m going to jail!”
|
I just looked at the actual blog, and if Sammy's post is accurate, the blog appears to have recently been edited. It takes a potshot at Sammy, too.

This is especially true in the joint... where KRom could end up because of his crime. Many a crime has been solved because dumbazzes are stupid enough to boast. KRom, man up and turn yourself in. It's the only way to prove you're not just another weasel who wants everyone else to pay for his mistakes. |
I am curious...no police were involved in any of this:eek: I mean, the whole license plate thingy may have pointed the police to your beloved KR's snake ranch.
A 993, wrecked, lanes jammed, people honking and the two young Jedi's flee on feet...and AAA hooks it up and tows it to the lot and the police have no issues with there being no driver at the scene and then, and then... This is ponderous stuff folks. Someone have a link to the blog? I'm a big fan of literature. Quote:

Damn...very glad to hear you're okay. Yeah, a rain after a long dry spell, dripped oil by many cars floats to the surface. Be careful, guys...
(edit) Should have read the entire thread before posting the above. Still..be careful when it rains after a dry spell. Even "all weather" tires get slippery when oil is floating. |

As previosuly mentioned, it has has been edited from the orgininal version (which Sammy posted). I cannot believe there were no cops involved either. The first thought with an abandoned wrecked vehicle is usually: Stolen or DUI. So, he has evaded criminal DUI and insurance fraud at the least. Sorry, but what a douche. Just goes to (lack of) character I guess. Kind of like the illegal tampering with an electronic parking meter with a paper clip to get time credit he shows at the end of his "gumball 3000" video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vkl8hgjvgA :rolleyes: |
I bet kroman reaaaalllly hopes this thread goes away.
|
Sorry for your loss man.
|
Wow.... post, sympathy, collect, edit, change. that'l leave a mark. Big time.

Yea, it happened a long time ago...yea, why should anyone care??? If his original blog is correct, we all should care.
What should really bother everyone here is that this jack ass presented one story that was a total lie. His actions and admission to being drunk should bother everyone. He is less than a man and a total loser. People like this cause us all problems; higher insurance premiums! I am suprised at the "support" for him that many have given. |
Any wreck you walk away from is a good wreck.
doors, hood, all sorts of good stuff sitting there, glad you and your co-pilot weren't damaged too severely |
Apparently the biggest troll on pelican is sammyg2...
Holding grudges regarding internet postings that are two years old? Really how pathetic.. I hadn't noticed this thread before, it is dated from 2007.. I can only surmise that sammyg2 is just stirring the pot... trolling.. |

Ins cos tend to be that way. They are somewhat diligent at the moment, but move on when the settlement is achieved. In this case, they paid for a car, no more, no less. I'll bet they stand on that. Meanwhile, an incident that happened a year and a half ago is being dragged out here. Even though the OP started this, if things get bad for him now as a result of this thread, that could bring about a really interesting situation. Who can prove any of this is accurate? I know I'd be looking into the other side of things and looking for slander. No, that's not right, but I'm a self preservationist and I will do what I have to in order to preserve. Don't misconstrue what I'm saying. I'm not defending anyone or any action. But, if the shoe ever falls on the other foot and it's me as the subject, I'll counter with a legion of attorneys if I can afford them. That's essentially what I think of threads like this. I have no respect for this being revived. |

How you viewed it otherwise is a mystery. |
This thread has not faded into the background because an accusation was made and the OP (Kroman) has not refuted the accusation. If he did not abandon the car when the accident occurred, then he should state so since he is the one who started this thread.
