The strange case of school buses for non-english speakers ONLY in MN

A story you might not expect to read in America these days, but in Minnesota schools english free school buses are now in vogue. Some foreign language teaching tool? No, it's to separate an ethnic group from others, at their request.

They're the mountain people from Vietnam that, unfortunately for them, got completely wired up in the CIA's activities there. They're extremely tribal, and when they decided to throw their lot in with the USG, all of them did so. They killed lots of communists, were trackers, and much more. In the movie Apocalyse Now, they're the people Kurtz is living and soldiering with. In reality, the SF guys did have some interesting relationships with the Hmong. As many Hmong as could be rounded up were brought to the US by our government. There's a large group of them in Western North Carolina, and a couple of other places. They had a leader, a General Vang Pao who was a sort of war lord and ran the Hmong in both Vietnam and in this country like a mafioso. I don't know if he's still alive or not, but he was "bad business" and ruthless.

They're not like most Vietnamese, their customs and culture are unique, and crude. If another man touches a Hmong's wife (casual touch on the arm, not intimate), he may kill her for example.

St. Paul has the largest population of Hmong in the US outside of the Seattle area. I believe that they are ethnic Thai, although they were tribal and not nationalistic in the old country. They are not ethnic Vietnamese or Chinese but as a group they are probably what most people think of as Vietnamese refugees.

General Pao used to live here. I think he died a year or two ago. Very colorful and charismatic. The former dean of my law school was a CIA type who was involved in Operation Phoenix and used to give interviews in the media saying what a great guy Pao was. I can't vouch for him either way but I know he was the leader, even here. His son still lives here as has been charged with racketeering type stuff. I don't know what ever came of it, though.

Most come from Cambodia/Laos IIRC although they are a scattered intermixed folk into China, Vietnam etc. Kind of like Basques in France and Spain. Large number there - like >100K I was told. You may recall that story where a hunter killed a bunch of other hunters (caucasians) because he thought he was being threatened (ultimately losing his defense). There's another hunter story recently as well from the north middle too.

An x-g/f of mine was Hmong, born in Thailand. They're a tribal/ethic group found all over SE Asia. Tons of them came to the US in the 80's and 90's.

This is an obvious violation of the "equal protection under the law clause" of the US Bill of Rights.

they are kind of like our indians
a very different culture from the viet-nam city people
and a very special case in their relationship to the CIA
we do owe them for their war service
but like all other immigrants they need to become americans
learn english and our customs now

aka Montagnards

the Hmong lived mainly in the highland areas of Southeast Asia and China, the French occupiers of Southeast Asia gave them the name Montagnards or "mountain people".

It's hard to rationalize them killing people in America based on some imagined "slight" based on good veggies.

One thing the liberal media forgot to mention, the family had moved out of the school district and they were putting their kids on the bus that was designated for a different school because it was convinient.

The kids were supposed to be going to a different school.
