You didn't really elaborate how you planned to use the FAE's, so i gave you a pass.

WASHINGTON, DC—The recent departure of Donald Rumsfeld as Secretary Of Defense has reportedly left his former staff noticeably tense and preoccupied in anticipation of the sweeping changes his successor is likely to bring. "At first I didn't care what the new guy [Robert Gates] had in mind, just so long as punch-in was still noon, shoes remained optional, and we were given plenty of time to keep up with our multiplayer online gaming," said Assistant To The Secretary Of Defense For Nuclear And Chemical & Biological Defense Programs Dale Klein, adding that he hoped Gates would not break the May 12-to-Oct. 1-summer-vacation tradition. "First thing today, though, I walk in and someone hands me a briefing on joint-transformational delivery-system initiatives that they just absolutely need me to read right away. Not a good sign." Several staffers also expressed concern that a recent memo urging them to construct a viable exit strategy for American military personnel in Iraq could affect their regular Margarita Mondays.
Then some of those guys must waste time on PPOT during the week too?

Of course not. In case you haven't figured it out yet, I was taking the opposite end of the spectrum position from yours to point out how silly your position is.

You are essentially saying that the Democratic leaders really have no responsibility for putting forward plans or ideas on Iraq since Bush makes the decision. That's silly and simplistic and you know it. The Democrats should be part of the solution and should be held accountable for their ideas and plans just as the Republican Congress was in the last election.

Yes, Bush is Commander in Chief, however the idea that the President leads the country in a vacuum just doesn't wash. Time for the Dems to put up or shut up, as much as they would like to continue to waffle and dodge.

All the congress needs to do is not appropriate any more money to the war. They are not required to come up with a plan, that is for the Commander in chief.

And I think we all know what the Dem's plans are. We have run into a cluster and to me it seems that there is only two ways to ending war there, bomb Iraq or just leave. B2 thought he could change a civilization that has evolved for thousands of years by trying to bully them. He either needs to unleash hell or leave. Plain and simple now. Their societal habits are too thick to just walk in and give them a ballot.

I do disagree with his millions to set up Job programs for the Iraqi's. Something sounds fishy about that. They have tons of oil money, let them support their own job program. We can't even get young men and women in our own country educated for a fair amount.

As for his Iraqi war plan, it sounds to me that he really hasn't changed it at all, except to add another 20,000 troops and throw more money at it. That is NOT an acceptable answer to anyone. That includes many republicans and democrats.

They won't find them across the aisle. They've been MIA for quite some time.

A man who understands the intended use of the system of checks and balances.

Kudos sir.

Yes, I agree...the dems need to look elsewhere... Their nads have been MIA for so long....They are likely not even in Washington. I suspect they left them somewhere in their home (liberal) districts.

I think it is time we eliminated the checks and balances. All power, both for policy and funding should be under the President. It would simplify and streamline the entire process and eliminate the current infighting.

Actually, I'm all for checks and balances. The trick is that we need to be electing "deal makers" who are willing to compromise to get something done. Usually terms where Congress is one party, and the President the other tends to force this sort of situation. I just hope that they can get their stuff together to create a situation like that.

Otherwise it's just going to be a hellish 2 years for everyone.
