Why don't songs have soldier references like during Vietnam?
Just a question I had while listening to classic rock in the garage. So many song's from the late 60's to early 70's had references to the plight of soldiers in Vietnam, but I haven't noticed any about the soldiers in Iraq. Of course I mainly listen to old rock, but I hear enough new stuff to think I'd catch something. I realize there's no draft, but with all the folks against the war, I think musicians would do more.

Believe it or not, there ARE bands who actually DO support our troops...

There are songs like that but I think its mostly rap. I cant really say I never really understood that kind of music.

Interestingly enough, I found a song about the Gulf War in 1990. "Train" by Uncle Tupelo...

There are bands out there that have some references.
Avenged Sevenfold has a song about Iraq. Not exactly like a 60's folk song but.......
