The Peter Green/Gary Moore 1959 Les Paul

What an amazing bit of kit. I recently saw some good photos of this guitar and its just been played, and played hard. There is no burst left in the finish, it more a honey now. You can hear this beauty on Gary Moores "Blues for Greeny" (thanks Rcecale).

Note the famously reversed front pickup- in one of the potos of Moore at the link below, that pick up has been put right. Must have been reversed again at somepoint.

Moore recently sold this guitar to a dealer who, Im told has since on sold it to a private collector. With mint examples of 58s and 59s going for US250k, this one, with its provenance, has sold for over million, I beleive. If anyone has info or rumour, please let us know.

Makes sense to sell it, i spose. Its worth too much to actually use.

More photos at this link.

Ahhh the good old days of Gibson. How the times have changed. Given they are now focussed on this sort of thing below, it is a mystery why they have not released a "Greenie Re-Issue". (Factory aged, photo-finish of course).

Yeah, next will be the "Steven Seagal Mojo Priest Signature Model". I'm sorry, but I just can't see Seagal playing guitar... It's sorta like seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger getting up and nailing "Eruption" or something...it's just not right.

They could have matching Schwarzenegger and DeVito models. One would have to be an LP Junior.

Supposedly. He's put out a couple of blues albums. I just can't see it, though...

You guys seen the Fender squire hello kitty model?

For a couple hundred bucks I'm almost tempted to buy one just as a joke to whip it out at parties to freak my friends out...
almost.

It would be funny to get one and give it to a guitar builder to have them do a killers setup with some hot pickups... little expensive for a gag though.

I remember seeing him play at Jazz Fest several years ago for just a few minutes sitting in with somebody (before I bailed to a different stage), and I was thinking...WTF is this guy doing on stage in the midst of all this talent? JF ain't what it used to be

I do remember one thing about Seagal's JF appearance that really struck me as funny. I've been going to JF for years, and have NEVER seen anyone with an entourage (i.e. bodyguards) before Seagal, but he had one. I'm thinking, this dude is supposed to be a bad a$$, and can supposedly take care of himself, yet he felt the need to have bodyguards at a music festival...maybe he was afraid someone would hand him a beer or something
