One of my best friends recently had an experience courteous of Homeland Security. He was returning with family from Mexico to NY. The plane had to divert to Miami due to JetBlue not emptying the sewage tank. Upon landing several uniformed individuals pulled my friend out of line as he was getting off the plane. They held him in a holding room without telling him why he was being held. Didn't talk to him. Didn't ask any questions. This guy is white toast as they come. Irish-American from the 19th century. After a couple of hours they let him go without any explanation or apology. Probably just looking for OT.

I've poked around the ACLU site a bit on this. It's scary stuff. The ACLU has filed two lawsuits on behalf of Americans like my self who do not warrant being on the list, but to no avail.
The ACLU has also file Freedom of Information Act letter to find out something about the no fly list and they've come up empty there. Big Brother has gotten too big for his britches if you ask me. |
I was on it for about 5 years. Right after September 11, 2001, I bought a car on ebay from California....
I bought a one way ticket from MDW to SFO at the customer counter, paid cash for it, had no checked bags, and my carry-on consisted of underwear and low level IFR sectionals. I was also 19 years old. I was given the rubber glove treatment for about 5 years. Once I started flying Part 121, all of that went away, though. Security at our airports is nothing but smoke and mirrors. I see it every day. |
