As the do-gooders pressure America to reduce car emissions from virtually nothing to even more virtually nothing, China pollutes like a frickin' PIG. We hear of the reduction efforts here in the US, but is much being done in China? Of course not. If 'Global Warming' is truly a problem, I'd say China is a BIG factor in it:

+1 China
Third world countries and those with an emerging middle class like China and India will be the new leaders in emissions.

Just think what the Chinese will do to the ozone when they trade in their bicycles for their 10 million cars in the next decade.

I hate to break it to you, but the US is responsible for WAY more pollution that China. Our per capita pollution rates are something like 8 times greater than China. Its a bit laughable to point the finger at china.

China is a polution nightmare because they've excused themselves; along with more than half the world, from meeting anything close to those requrements attempted to be thrust upon America. It's being dressed up as a "have" vs. "have not" country, but in fact it's just sociofascist nonsense.

I thought it was the USA that excused themselves from the Kyoto protocol. That would make them a pollution nightmare too. Just look at a map of the CO2 and NO2 emissions worldwide, and you can cleary see where the pollution nightmares are. I am not trying to excuse China by any means, just putting things in perspective. USA and China are the two biggest polluters on the planet. A pig and a hog.

China's building coal-fired power plants at the rate of 1 every six days, and none have scrubbers. When was the last coal plant built in the US with no scrubbers? China's environmental protection laws are a joke. The Chinese manufacturing sector is under none of the pressures that we are under. Why do you think it's so cheap to build things in China? Just the labor? No! I could go on for days. Excluding CO2, the US and Europe lead the world in pollution control.

Pat, what you are trying to do is redifine pollution to fit your own agenda. So, according to you, CO2 and NO2 are not pollution. I am not sure of what you call a virtual polllution free. Sounds like nonsense to me. Please explain.
I am sorry to see that you are employing the same methods your government you despise so much as employed to redefine torture in order to fit its own agenda of using methods such as sleep deprivation. Can you see the parallel? Aurel

The one reason China may not, at the moment, pollute as much as the U.S. is simply because they have not evolved industrially to the level as we have. Just give them time, though...

Pat sees a map with the same color spots on China and the USA, and he concludes that China is a polluter and the USA is not. He has some special abilities that us common scientists do not possess.
What I know is that China has plans for using peeble bed nuclear reactors, a much safer technology for building multiple small nuclear power plants, which will on the long term avoid the use of coal burning power plants. Aurel

I would imagine they are more concerned with what the world thinks they are doing/going to do vs what they are actually doing.
