$1 million for a hummer? only at BJ
A hummer that was used by CNN in Iraq and later was customized by Chip Foose just sold for a cool $1 mil at Barrett-Jackson, 100% of the proceeds went to a veteran's charity.
The 2nd place bidder wrote a check for $250,000 just because he thought it would be a good thing to do. Must be nice to have that kind of scratch. The winning bider is either very generous or foolish, I dunno which. I think I'll just say he's a generous guy with a great big heart (and bank account). |

It looks like a convention of used car dealers. SOLD IT SOLD IT SOLD IT SOLD IT!!!!!
I've never seen so many 63-67 Corvettes.

The cobra was an automatic, now that's funny.
Grumpy's Vega went for $50,000?? I don't get it. I did like the Beatles stuff though.

Dang. With "hummer", "BJ", and "million dollars" in the title, I thought this might actually be an interesting thread.

If it was the automatic Cobra it was Bill Cosby's old car. He had it built drove it and sold it. He was afraid of it. The second owner wrecked it and I think killed himself in it.
It was salvaged and put back to original condition. So someone just paid 5Mil for a salvaged title. ![]()

What they didn't show was the Hummer caught fire and didn't run before they pulled up on the stage!

I saw that Hummer on BJ...I cannot understand how people have that kind of disposable of income..even though I understand that he was is Veteran. A Hummer for crying out loud!!
The guy who gave the $250K donation is some kind of big time car dealer in Montana. Missed the $5M SSnake...the numbers are dizzying and quite sick really...the bubble will burst - it has too...and these guys will hopefully being kicking themselves. Yasin

The guy with the money is from this area, Chandler AZ. Wonder what he does for a living and why in the hell didnt we start doing that years ago!
Cannot believe the prices but am sure getting tired of all the Corvettes, Mustangs and so on... Could not as well believe that the Duesenburg only went for 500,000 last night.

The hummer was also painted by 4 of the country's best artists. It was a work of art as much as it was a retired military truck. People pay $1M all the time for art.

I was there for the last four days and on stage when some of those cars where sold.
What a feak show. I'm glad I went but you couldn't drag me back again. BJ threw a member of the media off the site and there was a lot of talk about shill bids, fantom buyers, infated prices etc. For the most part people seem to dislike Craig Jackson. I was at diner last night at Mortons and anytime Craigs picture came on the TV in the bar everyone boo'd him Was quite an interesting weekend! Steve

I'll be glad when the muscle car craze is over. The hotrod/custom craze is over judging by the prices the hotrods/customs were getting compared to 2-3 years ago. I think I've seen enough vettes, hemis, cobras, stangs, roadrunners, cudas, novas, etc to last me a long time. I'm knocking people's passion for the vehicles but I remember when car auctions had some variety, but it is a business to make money and the hot vehicles always bring money.

There where only 2 Ferrari's a 308 and a 74 365 2t2, a couple of old tired Porsche's (1 993). I think I counted 24 vette 427 rodsters all selling for over 100k
Jackson got visably upset over the fact that some cars where not getting the money heexpected or wanted them too. It was funny to watch someone bid 200k on a car and be scolded by Craig that they weren't even half way there yet Steve
