Mr Lubby & Mr Moses
I put out alot of energy in Round 1, and came to the point where I had to flip the switch off and let myself rest.
Lubby I don't get it, your a responsible guy with a family. If U had a tumor growing out of the side of your head, you'd be at the MDs so fast...yet when faced with an equally real problem of "Panic Attacks" your willing to roll the dice and take some prescribed pills the doc gives ya. What I don't understand is why ya don't want to get to the bottom of the problem, fix it and move on. YOur letting the underlieing problem stand while using Duct Tape to hold it together. One thing U should be aware of that taking those pills will over time change the Receptors in the brain and will creat a dependency on them. Well I've said my piece and now U can do what ya want. Well Moses I have given alot of thought to U. To make it real simple when I meet U I have met your Father. You have a rough and ready quality that is sometimes abrasive like sand paper, U tend to push away the feeling when they get to painfull or go on overload. Everybody goes on overload at sometime in their life. Thats when ya meet MR Rough and ready.."stop yer whining boy" What I've done is grab ahold of that pain, held it close and let it ride. Over time the pain mutes itself and you don't feel so much pain anymore but a gentleness and compassion..Love if U will. Its called being Transcendent. I've gotten the feeling that U know exactly what I'm talking about. So much for now, I gotta go to sleep. |

Tabs - I can't disagree with your analysis because I do not have any formal or informal education or understanding of neuropharmicology. What your saying does make a certain amount of sense to a point much like the way in which various natural alkoloids (i.e. caffiene and nicotene) can effect/affect the synopse ion gate of an axion.
I have come to a point when I do throttle back on the java and then a few months later ramp up - same with cigars (BTW, my new have is the A. Fuente 858 Natural, um yummmy!). The pills do the thing for now but will be adjusted as needed. Who is to say that my neurotransmitter balence isn't out of whack and needs to be pushed back into whack? I don't know and the majority of the rest of the world doen't either which is why we have Doctors that have better insight. This board is good to sound off and ask questions but if my Targa had a problem I would ask someone with a skill to help out - plenty of folks on this board have skills, some have pseudo-skills and a few are lost. At the end of the day one has to apply a certain amount of prudential certitude and go with what has worked for others as well as your self. Being pragmatic is not a crime and I would rather use duct tape until the part came in than not drive the car (provided that the use of duct tape didn't monkey it up). The pills are my working duct tape and just maybe the correct overall fix - not sure yet but I will not stop exploring. Thanks for your concern big fella, I actually do appriciate it! |
Try some Ashton Cabinets Mike, you'll love them.

Lubby I don't know the severity, duration or frequency of your "panic" attacks. They are enough for you to take notice and take action by going to an MD. So you've taken them seriouly enough. I have met you and would bet money there is nothing wrong with your Brain chemistry to cause Panic attacks.
Heres what it come down to Lubby, your either protecting someone or your not admitting something to yourself. You'd be reclineing on the Thearpsits couch and talking about stuff and you'd say something that would just come outa nowhere, a moment of clarity and you'd go "Ohhh so that what it is, now I get it." and the panic attacks would go away, because there is no more reason for them. I don't get the resistance, your a well educated indivdual, who isn't living in the Dark Ages. What are U afraid of...Think of it as taking a School Class in another subject, a learning experience. |
First, nobody in their right mind would fail to show up at a Motion party.
Now then..... Although doctors are not quick to recognize this, antidepressants have been known, at times, to clarify and improve a patient's thinking beginning with the FIRST PILL. Usually, it takes weeks for the therapeutic effect to take hold, but there are some folks whose chemical imbalance was so severe that they report their Brave New World began the same day they started dosing. Mental health is most often not just an "attitude thing," or a deliberate decision. Therapy and determination are part of the mix, but some folks NEED a particular antidepressant. Without it, they are doomed. With it, they are made whole. |
I've got a confession to make. But first, let me say I know for a fact there are psychologists out there who are worth their weight in platinum. They are rare. It is more a talent than a skill. But there are counselors who can work magic with their words.
Okay, having said that I have to confess that the reason I got a degree in Psychology and then decided not to pursue it is because.......ready for this?.........drum roll please.........it's because psychology is FOS. Psychology thinks it is an objective science, and that it understands how the human mind works. Give me a break. Economists believe their discipline is a branch of sociology. ****, if you talk to a psychology professor you'd think psychology is a branch of mathematics. When psychology learns enough to be humble, I'll start listening again. |
Wow.

You've gone through the Door of Perception and are on the road, you discover stuff at your own pace. I could only wish that U lend your weight to my arguement. Nostatus, U know everyone of my tricks as its happening, like watching a Tennis Ball come over the net. :) I think what amazes U is my audacity and depth of knowledge. . |
There are sciences, there are pseudo sciences, there are arts and there are crafts. My experiences observing my former (now deceased) wife's experiences with psychiatry is mixed. I agree it appears to be the talent of the individual rather than the discipline itself. These few gifted people would be good at it even without the degrees.

Human Beings decision making process is completely subjective in nature. There is a reason why they do everything, and maybe someday science will come to the point where they will be able to make it objective, but we are just begining to go down that road. So what U have is a hit and miss system, like throwing darts at a board in the dark, but that doesn't mean that there isn't success. |
I truly think that we are, for the most part, vics of chems - internal and external. We can change the internal ones to a very small extent - beyond that, its genetics and substance abuse at various levels.

There are times I just take a shot in the dark, I go with what I feel, think or imagine without much reason or evidence I just put it out there. I trust my accuracy |
Lubby you function at a very high level, professionally, socially, intellectually...if there were something majorly askew with the Brain Chemistry, U could not have funcitoned for so long at such a high level.
Its like a cog in a machine, if it were broke you would have stumbled long ago. Figure it a skip in a record, everytime U get to that place there is a blip and a repeat blip..the record doesn't function beyond a certain point. You function |
