Prove me wrong.

The Arabs hate us because we are liberals who bang chicks before marriage.

The Europeans hate us because we are gun strapping conservatives.

We don't need the Euros because we have Napa Valley.

We don't need the Arabs because we COULD have cellulosic ethanol.

Greenhouse emissions go down, cow poop has a use, and our water supply is cleaner.

The Arabs are left with sand and a lazy society (oil pouring from the ground has that effect on people). We could send them C-130s... full of rice and vaccines.

island_dude 01-26-2007 08:43 AM

I don't know about your first statement. All of the Arabs I know banged as many as they could before marrying their virgin.

Ahhhn, small problem is that yes many Arabs are banging before marriage but unfortunatly its not female. The Saudi's and many other Arabs learn sex by buggering another guy.

Do not believe me? Do some research on how the young boys are taught about sex. Its a wonderful society...

And you know, I did not believe it at first. Was based there for two years and after being told the same story by 3 different people started to believe it and the same thing kept being repeated again and again.

Frankly I prefer Playboy and fiddleing around with girls myself...

M.D. Holloway 01-26-2007 10:22 AM

speaking from experience?

gaijindabe 01-26-2007 10:30 AM

Tough to prove you wrong on the original post. Could we use a lot less oil and have lots less to do with that part of the world. Yes and yes. Would it be an overall good thing? Yes.

Are Americans willing to drive Yaris's and shovel coal into the boilers of their new oversize McMansions to get there? Most likely not.

wludavid 01-26-2007 11:16 AM

Cellulosic ethanol might take 20 years or more. Sure, we might be able to speed that up with lots of research $$, but who knows?

Personally, I think it's worth the investment. Especially if we can destroy the corn lobby/subsidies and use switchgrass for fuel needs.

Uh, what's this about cow poop having a use?

Superman 01-26-2007 11:33 AM

Bad idea. The changes that would be necessary for energy independence and national security.......would step on the toes of the oil and automobile industries. Get real guys, and stop taking your eyes off the target. It's not about national security or soldiers' lives or transportation safety or the environment. It's about money. Commerce. That's what it's about.

gaijindabe 01-26-2007 11:40 AM

Wind and ethanol (made of whatever) are only put in place to grab the latest tax shelter.

Who is the biggest investor in "wind farms"? Wall Street. Supe is right, it is all about the buck.

The only clean alternative energy I see is geothermal. There is unlimited heat and not that far down. But how do you turn that heat into not just heat for buildings - but air-conditioning and energy for cars and transportation?

Moneyguy1 01-26-2007 11:40 AM

Amen.

"Follow the money"

Superman 01-26-2007 11:44 AM

It's going to be all about battery technology. With that, we can make all the power we need. We've got these really heavy atoms that break apart by themselves, creating intense heat. As I say, if we could make an electric car that could be refueled in a few minutes, our dependence on ME oil would go to zero.

wludavid 01-26-2007 11:46 AM

nuh-uh, supe! them's sound like nukular to me. and nukular = bad, mkay?

livi 01-26-2007 12:32 PM

Hrrm....us 'Euros' could have kept our Porscheīs to ourselves. And our Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini...

You donīt need 'Euros'.. ;)

Awww, come on guys, it's so simple. Maybe you need a refresher course. Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays. Now you prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads. And I'm gonna need 'bout ten quarts of anti-freeze, preferably Prestone. No, no make that Quaker State.

livi 01-26-2007 12:43 PM

Cujo ??

nostatic 01-26-2007 12:45 PM

Can I borrow your towel for a sec? My car just hit a water buffalo.

nostatic 01-26-2007 12:46 PM

Yeah, do you have the Beatles' White Album? Never mind, just get me a glass of hot fat. And bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia while you're out there.

nostatic 01-26-2007 12:47 PM

In the court ruling US vs. Fishbine, a man subjected to potential incineration while wearing another man's suit is entitled to $10,000 worth of airline tickets. It's an obscure ruling, but a very important one to me.

nostatic 01-26-2007 12:49 PM

Of course you've got some good grillwork there to keep out the ozone. I gotta get this thing up to 95, uh, check out the fluorocarbon output.

Got this off the G. Gordon Liddy web site a while ago.

WHY MUSLIMS WANT TO DIE!
Posted March, 2003
Everyone seems to be wondering why Muslim terrorists are so willing to commit suicide.
Let's see now: No beer, No booze, No bars, No bikinis, No television, No cheerleaders, No baseball, No football, No basketball, No hockey, No golf, No tailgate parties, No Hooters, No pork BBQ, No hot dogs, No burgers, No lobster, No shellfish, or even frozen fish sticks.
No Stacked & Packed Calendar to count down the remaining days of your miserable life. A 'thong' is something you wear on your feet. Rags for clothes and towels for hats. Constant wailing from the guy next door because he's sick and there are no doctors. Constant wailing from the guy in the tower. No chocolate chip cookies, No Thanksgiving, No Christmas. You can't shave, Your wife can't shave, You can't shower to wash off the stench of your donkey cooked over burning camel dung. The women have to wear baggy dresses and veils at all times.
Your bride is chosen by someone else. She smells just like your donkey. But your donkey has a better disposition.
Worst of all, NO FREEDOM, to speak, act, or even think for yourself. 90% of your measly paycheck is taken by the government. Then they tell you that when you die it all gets better!
No mystery here.

GettinHeadStuds 01-27-2007 11:20 AM

1) Money and commerce.... You are dead on.

So tell me... Who has the money and who stimulates commerce?

2) Cellulosic ethanol is not 20 years away. We have the technology. There are companies in North America and Europe who already produce the fuel. I encourage you to look up the Canadian company "Iogen". They've got some factual information about what cellulosic ethanol is, how it is made and how it is differnet than "corn based ethanol."

3) Manure can be used in the production of cellulosic ethanol... and as you know, we have a $hitload of manure.

4) Livi, Subaru makes a pretty sweet flat-six. :p

No, they hate the US government because it's been engaged in murdering Arabs, Persians, and other muslims for over 80 years.
Quote:

No, they hate the US government because it's becoming worse than the Soviet Union ever was.

Quote:

We don't need the Euros because we have Napa Valley.
California has over 3000 wineries, only a few hundred (or less) are in the Napa Valley. North Carolina has over 50 wineries, and just about every state in America has more than one. That said, France is one huge winery complex.

Ethanol uses more petroleum BTU's to produce than yielded alcohol BTU's.

Nonsensical.

That statement is nonsensical as well, what are you smoking?

Let's see; would you be thrilled to the sound of your electric motor winding out as you pass 50 mph, or the sound of your aircooled flat six as it passes 6K on the way to road nirvana?

Ain't no car guy going to buy an electric car, no way, no how.

1) Wrong. Try wikipedia as a start.

2) Educate yourself, then come and play.

3) Pat, you have enough of your own 'smoke', quit trying to get some of mine.

No one ever would buy an automatic transmission either.

Wikipedia says muslims hate America because of pre-marital sex. Quote?

The US government essentially began meddling in the mideast when it agreed to protect Ibn Saud's claim to be King of Arabia, and help him kill anyone who didn't like that. You can look that up.

I have, the Soviet Union never attempted to pay Germany and France to join in a war, then attacked them for their reticence via anonymous press reports. Everything else the Soviet Union was able to do in western europe was a gift from America's original fascist, Franklin Roosevelt.

If you need references, let me know.

GettinHeadStuds 01-27-2007 11:33 PM

My last post was a response to your BTU statement and your two nonsensical comments. Did you not see what I quoted from your initial post?
