Lemme tell ya 'bout my weekend - dinner with a Rock Star

Spent last week in Anahaeim, CA for a music industry trade show called NAMM. Got down on Monday and did Disneyland and the San Diego Zoo Tuesday and Wednesday before the show started on Thursday - big mistake. We were already dead-tired before the show... :banghead:

Had some good meetings with a few companies, and saw lots of interesting charac..er..musicians...and guitars galore...

Can anyone name this old dude? Guitar players who can't must be hanged..

Dinner and a meeting with Rick Derringer at an Italian restaraunt in Disneyland.

Geeze hon...wait till I'm done making a funny face, will ya? Me and Tomo, guitar player for 30 Seconds to Mars. We might be striking a deal soon, too!

An overhead shot of one of the aisles...oh, the sea of sheeple.

Parker Fly guitar...

Paul Reed Smith guitar

SLAYER

Some dude from Static X checking out his Signature model guitar display...you'll poke yer eye out with that hair, man!

Babe at the Dean Booth..hmm..baaaabess...

Doctor, Doctor, gimmie the news! Unfortunately, I counld't get a face-shot...

More babes..

And a couple more babes playing electric violin during a RIPPING performance with some Rock Orchestra...imagine violin played over a cranked Marshall stack, distorted to the hilt, doing Zeppelin, Hendrix, Queen...
Got some on Video...

Don't wash your hand ever again - the "tone" will come off.

Every year at NAMM there is a HUGE line of people lined up to meet Jim Marshall. Its quite surprising his popularity really, considering that he is an amp maker...but legends are legends.

The booth babes at NAMM are great... they use a lot or recycled porn stars.

always found most of the booth babes kinda sad and scary. NAMM gets interesting after about 2pm when the ghouls and their arm candy start showing up. Haven't gone the last 2 years because my pass source dried up, but had an 18 year run before that. The first couple times it is an amazing experience. After that it just gets more and more annoying...

NAMM shows

I had a pretty good "gig" for a few years. My buddy was the NAMM CIO and I spoke at the shows (IT stuff) and I got VIP passes to everything and went to Anaheim and Nashville many times. I always had a great time and enjoyed the "weekend freak show"!!

I used to work in MI for a company that made pro recording gear... what used to annoy me at NAMM is how many scam artist wanna be, never will be "rock stars" that used to come by pimping for free gear and discounts... they all had a story.... it was worse than dealing with the homeless guys who beg for change on the streets of Nashville.

I met Chris Squire (bass player from Yes), Peter Frampton, Charlie Watts, etc... at the NAMM shows and they were always friendly and nice to the "little people".

Yeah, someone pointed that out. I finally get to tell my wife she doesn't know everything!
Althought, one of those dudes does kinda look like Kerry King...if I can remember what he looks like.

Nostatic, I agree. Lots of scary "booth babes" but some pretty noice ones too.
Hit me up next year, I may have some extra passes available.

Yeah, he surely does look like Jim Marshall.

As a reward, I'd like my 1969 100w Super Lead plexi head back, thanks.
