Virgin Lizard gives birth

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16298548/

my biology professor explained that there's a 1 in so many chance (very large) that this happens throughout all species including humans. During ovulation, a mother could fertilize her own egg.

makes you think. could this have been the same thing that happened to mary

Hmmmm. Maybe that is a discovery that will be brought to light in the upcoming presidential campaign.

That's a new one, anything is possible.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blessed_Virgin_Mary
Quote:
Prominent atheists, such as Richard Dawkins [1] and Richard Carrier [2], Jewish apologists [3] and some Christian researchers claim that the Virgin Mary arose from a single mistranslation. The original Hebrew stated that the mother of Jesus would be an almah ("young girl") but the translation to Greek made it into parthenos (commonly "virgin"). This alleged mistranslation would have occurred up to three centuries before the time of Jesus, since the Septuagint was translated over the 3rd to 1st centuries BC.

I would say that is highly speculative.

Quote:
from the article
Other reptile species reproduce asexually in a process known as parthenogenesis. But Flora’s virginal conception, and that of another Komodo dragon earlier this year at the London Zoo, are the first time it has been documented in a Komodo dragon.
Lizards are know for this asexual pregnancy. And just becuase it's never been documented before, it doesn't mean that it hasn't happened before in nature when no one was there to document it.

Humans are far more complex beings than lizards, and I know of only one virgin birth, and it is my belief that it was by a miracle of God that it happened.

I would not be surprised if finding come out that Komodo dragons can reproduce asexually, and they have been doing so since the beginning. Per the article, there are only 4000 Komodos around, 1000 of which are female. That's a very small population...
