Other reptile species reproduce asexually in a process known as parthenogenesis. But Flora’s virginal conception, and that of another Komodo dragon earlier this year at the London Zoo, are the first time it has been documented in a Komodo dragon.

Lizards are know for this asexual pregnancy. And just becuase it's never been documented before, it doesn't mean that it hasn't happened before in nature when no one was there to document it.

Humans are far more complex beings than lizards, and I know of only one virgin birth, and it is my belief that it was by a miracle of God that it happened.

I would not be surprised if finding come out that Komodo dragons can reproduce asexually, and they have been doing so since the beginning. Per the article, there are only 4000 Komodos around, 1000 of which are female. That's a very small population...
