2007 Daytona 24 Hours
Thought I'd start a thread on the race since I'm going to watch as much of it as i can...
Rule #1 - No mentioning of a certain brand of watch, i'm getting enough of that already. Geez, even bob varsha is sitting their holding one in his hands talking about how that watch is why people race! Anyhow, saw a gulf 917 in the history highlights. Now we need Speed (aka NextelTV) to stop ooohing and ahhhhing over the cup car drivers and talk to some actual endurance racers! 5 minutes to start time! Britt |

I've been to the race about 10 times. The first time was when I was a senior in high school, four of us drove over from Tampa and watched Hurley win in this Carrera.

In the Speed Channel intro clip, who are the two idiots having the fist fight with helmets on? That must really feel good on the hand.

At least the speed channel intro showed Hurley. And what was the brief clip of a open racer threading through traffic like he had 50+mph on it? It was exhilerating.
There's some decent driving at the front of the pack. Nice pass for Allmendinger. And cool, a commerical for VIR, i'll be there. B Last edited by brittbolen; 01-27-2007 at 12:05 PM.. |

I'm rooting for the "Racer's Group" entries.
Kevin is a local to my area and I've enjoyed my brief conversations with him. Go TRG!! KT

OK...now they are showing a really bad rock band and cut to commercial due to their questionable lyrics.
I thought I was watching a race? KT

something about total darkness when a downshifting car shoots flames and illuminates the surrounding area which doesn't exist in a modern daytona 24. but looks like the weather is nice for the race, and the sound of those rotarys......gotta love that buzz

Well, the Brumos Red Bull 58 is in the garage with a trashed rear end thanks to the Sahlen 911 playing billiards This sucks.

Speed just stopped thier coverage at 10 pm eastern.
They wouldn't or didn't say anything about that DP that went off in the infield. That's not a good sign. In the last shot of the track there were several safety trucks around the car.

Any word on that wreck in the infield?
I'll get up around 6:00 and watch a bit. KT

Red flag during the night, a car took out some of the safer barrier. Rained for a while, but strong forecast for more today. Brumos 59 in 3rd, the 58 car is way back, and in the garage again. Ruby Tuesday 23 also plagued with mechanical issues after they were clawing their way up, and they are back.
Porsche doing well in GT, but Wolf Henzler in the Tafel Racing 74, who was cruising out front til they signed off last night is waaaaaay back-either had a mechanical or was in a wreck. I need to read up on all of the details-I did get up at 4:45 to get some coffee on and catch the start of live coverage. I love racing "season".
