to me, it matters more how the parties handle this now, than actual past sins

Believe it or not, politics is alive and well here in SF. This is great political fodder.

On the radio show that I listen to in the ride to work, yeah it's a liberal rock and roll station, people were critical of him, her and whoever leaked this to the press.

I don't doubt that, but with the alternative morality system in place in SF, I could see this being more an asset than a liability to Newsom.

Nope. I think this will knock him down a peg or two. Again it depends on how it plays out. Clinton did not do it right, Guiliani screwed up also.

He will be on the morning show next Friday and will certainly be talking about it.

wife, that is way worse than banging your intern or your wifes girlfriends. It is tough to get a good friend, there is always another girl.

I'm sure this will hurt him. He normally has high approval ratings, but with the election in November, this will be bad. He's also likely to take a lot of blame if SF loses the 49ers, plus he's got his spokesman who just got busted posing as someone else on a website posting pro-Newsom comments. SF also had to cancel its Olympic bid as a result of the 49ers announcement to pull out of the new stadium deal. It's a longshot SF would have won the Olympics, anyway. But the hopes are dashed.

Apparently not this guy. He looks and sounds like
a player...not that there is anything wrong with that
if he were a normal person...

But he is a mayor/political figure of a major city...
if I were a voter...I would question his integrity
because anyone who cheats on a wife who looks like this
(see pic below) and then does not own up to it until
he gets caught...would probably be dishonest in other areas
as well.

Its bad news to cheat with your friend's wife...any way
you look at it...its dishonest and simply not cool.
Its Jerry Springer type trash, and for the mayor of one
of the largest and most popular cities in the US, it not
only sets a bad example, it totally shows a complete lack
of character.

agree with most of that, but just to clarify, apparently this happened during his separation and divorce waiting time from his wife

also I really don't want to know of all the sins of my elected officials. I elect them based upon what their public service is, not private life.

To me there is a serious moral issue with someone that has an affair with his friends wife, being single or in the middle of a divorce is not an excuse, it is still your friends wife. No class at all. I have a short list of things I haven't done, doing any friends wife is still on that list.

Honesty and morality are the cornerstones of both private life and public service. If it doesn't exist in one, I doubt it exists in the other.
To take it a step further, my Grandfather always said he wouldn't vote for someone who had been divorced since they didn't posses the skills needed to hold a country together much less a marriage.
