It's 4:06 PM...

...and Anna Nicole Smith is still dead.

The scrolling bar at the bottom of my TV reminds me continually. On thr radio, the cause-of-death updates are every 5 minutes.

Every year people die. Accomplished people. Philanthropists, Nobel prize winners, kings of industry, poets, engineers and enlightened visionaries pass from our world without mention, yet Anna Nicole has our nation spellbound. News at 11.

The coverage reminds me of when Buckwheat was shot on SNL.

"Buckwheat dead. A nation mourns. Brought to you by Texon, because you could die tomorrow."

Moneyguy1 02-08-2007 03:11 PM

World to end at ten.

Film at eleven.

Porsche-O-Phile 02-08-2007 03:12 PM

"The popcorn you're eating has been pissed in. . ."

Moses, your statment is quite profound. and you are right, not being sarcastic here. the media jumps on these stories and makes them bigger than life. similar to the Astronaut with the diapers.

Moneyguy1 02-08-2007 03:19 PM

Would make an excellent documentary:

"The dumbing down of society".

widebody911 02-08-2007 03:28 PM

Seen on Digg: "Anna Nicole Smith's death will set civilzation forward 30 years"

Obligatory pre-skank pic

Flatbutt1 02-08-2007 03:41 PM

her former step son did it...still don't care though

Nathans_Dad 02-08-2007 03:43 PM

Dude, she was still a skank at that point, u just didn't know it yet.

Dan in Pasadena 02-08-2007 04:19 PM

She was a celebrity so that's why you're gonna hear about it.

WE (the collective witless "we" who watch the myriad of entertainment types - movies, TV, magazines, sports, books, etc) all contribute to the celebrity so when ANYTHING happens to them WE are going to hear abou it endlessly....until the next thing xcomes along.

They do it because rating and sales etc SAY we want it. You (the individual person) doesn't like it but the collective WE apparently loves it.

+1

I flipped on Weather Channel checked my local on the 8's then checked the Cable news everyone is on crisis special reports. I laughed, pointed at the TV and said "Mombo like funny story" and proceded to watch for 5 hours.

Not really I flipped it off and played GT4 for an hour and now I am on here and now I am off to bed. :D

I feel bad for her in a way, she lived a sad life and probably overdosed. Hulk Hogan was on BTLS this afternoon and was with Anna last week and Hogan said she was a mess last week at the Hard Rock all drugged up and staggering around. Sad ending to a really wacked life.

These accomplished people didn't have a rack that could be spotted from outer space. :D

5 month old daughter, of unknown/disputed father
it's going to get ugly for that kid... luckely it is at an age it won't notice the legal fighting, and hopefully the child get's some warmth from "some" caretaker...

tabs 02-08-2007 11:39 PM

That little 5 Month old allready has a battery of Attorneys fighting for that $473M that old man left to Nicole. Didja really think that was gona go away.

I think the movie "Network" should be rewatched by everyone here. Basically news has become entertainment to keep Americans preoccupied with nothing of consequence while the major issues that effect everyones lives goes unnoticed. End of rant.

svandamme 02-09-2007 12:59 AM

yeah, and why do the atorneys fight?
out of good will for the little bugger
or out of self serving greed?

what is better then a client that can't think, talk or say no ?

LeRoux Strydom 02-09-2007 02:09 AM

A good laywer is someone who does not stop litigating until his client runs out of money. I predict this will be the case with whatever money is/should be due to the little 5-month old.

The uber-bimbo is gone... when will Paris Hilton be gone?

on2wheels52 02-09-2007 03:37 AM

Rember when Huntley & Brinkley could give all the world and national news in 30 minutes every 24 hours?
