I Got Sucked In - 910 Article In Excellence!!!

So, I get my latest copy of Excellence. There is a good story about finding a good used 910. Sez there are many examples for sale - prices for 25-50K. Some dealers have several on their lot at one time. Dealers will even offer a 100,000 mile warranty....Gets me thinkin', I'd like one of those.

I get on the web and start looking for those for sale. Search many sites, including Ebay, google, PCA, etc.....Zip, zero, nada......I then find a post on Rennlist.....The article is in the April issue and is an April Fools thing!!!!!!! BASTARDS

The article was written by 'Cornpanzer' here on Pelican. They actually took a real 910 out on the streets of Dayton for the photo shoot. They wanted to get a shot of the car at a McDonald's Drive-thru but couldn't get it into the parking lot without bottoming.

Someone out there is gonna have a cow when they find out Excellence only valued their 910 at $25-50K.

Wouldn't it have made sense to put that article out in April?

if you guys read the exerpt at the end of the 910 article,
It said that they were pulling our legs.

actually, I was so excited reading that article, I missed it
also. When I read it a second time I caught the
"were just kiddding" excerpt.

Yeah, isn't he, Cornholer, just SO COOL? I'm cooked. Done with EXCELLENCE magazine (I cancelled my subscription) and the entire P-car scene of today. Put a fork in me. I'm done. The P-car scene has become insane. It's all about who can pee highest up the lampost now. It has nothing to do with sharing a common interest and helping each other. Long live the TALL dawgs! They can pee up the highest of anyone. At least they say so.

Um, you see my point though don't you?

I just reckon it would make more sense to pull an April Fool joke in APRIL. I guess I just don't understand the whole publishing a monthly TWO months in advance

Dude, what is your problem. You really need to take it easy. If these things upset you this bad, I would hate to see you when something bad happens in your life. Seriously man, take a deep breath.

Yes, clearly the story was written completely tongue in cheek. It was so sureal seeing a 910 driving around on public roads that it became hard to be too serious about it. Much like last years NASCAR Panamera, this was just an April Fools gag.

Honestly though, that is a very special car. It was a factory test car and a LeMans class winner and is still used quite hard. It has its share of scrapes and bumps from the last several years running the vintage circuits. We wanted to have fun with the idea, but still give the car the respect it is due. It was a privilage just being able to spend so much time looking at all of the little details. Those plasticars of the 60s seem so fragile. There was very little there to protect the driver in case of an accident. Hardly any serious structure at all. The science of race-car building has dramatically changed in the past 40 years!

Im just thankful that I have been offered the opportunity to do this kind of stuff as a side gig. Ive met some great people and get to play with some VERY cool cars!
