With or Without the Beard - You Vote!

I decided to try growing a beard after the new year. The kids thought it was great but momma didn't like it at all. Below is a pic with and without. I liked it. It was a litttle scratchy at first but was fun to mess with during meetings and most of the guys in in my seminars are rednecks or mechanics so they tend to look slighly more favorable on a gruffy dude than a clean shaven one.

Which do you like?

gatotom 02-09-2007 08:22 AM

you look way younger without the beard, maybe try a mustache.

oldE 02-09-2007 08:57 AM

Yeah man! Scruff it up!

beard on you = college professor-ish, rugged, experienced
No beard + suit = just another pastey-faced corporate tool

;) I kid... but really.

How bout some Photoshop Help, Mustache and then a Goat.

Jury is still out. here

Porsche virgin 02-09-2007 09:04 AM

I'll say with. It gives you character.

Maybe one of the photoshop wizards can put a Van Dyke on you or a handlebar mustache!

Marginally better without.

I can't put my finger on it, with the beard either the "Gorton's Fisherman" or a young "Col. Sanders"

Here was a pic taken last year put alongside my fav actor. Now, I don't see it but I hear it at least once a month that I look like Mr. D.

Question is, which one do YOU like. You are old enough that impressing chicks is not part of the factor.

If you like the beard then wear it.

Actually, I like the beard but my Wife really didn;t like it at all. She thought it made me look real old - even older than I am. She never told me to shave it but I knew she really didn't care for it at all. Ultimately I could have kept it (or grow it back) and staill get some action outa her.

It is a lot like her wanting to have a nice hairdo, or pretty nails or a good figuer. She does it for herself to some extent and to keep up with the other mommies and she also tries to look good for me. Although I really don't care so much any more. She still wants to be attractive so it by shaving it, I am a little more physically interesting to her...is it such a small price to pay (in my fav yiddish accent)?

Leave the beard until you're done with this:

Beard & 'stache would work with a 10-gallon hat. . .

ben parrish 02-09-2007 10:28 AM

I like wearing a beard but about every four to six months I get the urge to shave it off. Keep it off a few months then re-grow. My wife says I am too mashugina.
Keep it--shave it. Try differnt things. You could get away with just a mustache; kinda Magnum PI looking.
I just look like a greaser with a stache only.

Hendog 02-09-2007 10:37 AM

I read the thread topic and determined I would go with my first immediate reaction: (as opposed to my second immediate reaction)

With

livi 02-09-2007 11:17 AM

Beard on.

But I suppose this poll is hypothetical - as the little missus probably owns the question anyway in the end. Right ? ;)

M.D. Holloway 02-09-2007 11:58 AM

If I kept it trimmed below a #1 she might be cool with it. Also, if I colored it WHICH I WILL NOT DO, she might be OK with it.

Goatees are out guys--Lube, I like the facial hair--it's fun to mess around with. I've got one going--luckily for me my wife likes it.

hardflex 02-09-2007 12:18 PM

Every time I shave mine I hate it and immediately grow it back. Keep it.

As one of my friends once said, "everytime I rub it it reminds of rubbing my girl's pubics". :-)

madmmac 02-09-2007 12:28 PM

I can't believe that this is so simple....you each want to make each other happy right???

She shaves "it" (if not already done) and you shave it off...happy and happier.

If "it's" already done, you're stuck shaving. If mamma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

Hetmann 02-09-2007 12:28 PM

Sorta like a clam,

better with a beard.

Lose the old guy beard. And don't EVEN be tempted to dye it.

Take it from one another middle aged guy, the expression "greybeard" is synonamous with OLD for a reason. Lose it.

You might be on to something here - I'm not saying it's good, but you're definitely on to something. :D

The bag is looking better and better! One thing that the OT provides is honesty, raw brutal honesty.
