Why, I don't know, Bob, how DO they do that?

No, but you have to play the hand you're dealt and make the best of it. A guy like Pat has committed political suicide, brought irrelevance upon himself. I can appreciate his stance in a way, but he'll never make a difference, never fix anything. For some, sanctimony is its own reward I guess.

Franken is a leftist, which I'm opposed to on many grounds. Nevertheless, I'd like to see some of those who've voiced personal attacks against him, post actual opposite positions based on facts. . .
Opposite to what? Franken is a big fat lying self-promoter.

. . is he not?

Franken is a big fat lying self promoter....

And, as it applies to elected officials, what precisely is your point?

I wanted to say that first, dang it. Compared to politicians, everyone in Hollywood is more honest, and at least contributing something positive. They're not leeches like politicians are, that's the irony when they get involved, and why many of them really do well, and have honorable reputations.

Of course, I don't live in MN, but if I did, I'd not vote for either Franken or Coleman. Those who do are the truly irrelevant people.

Moneyguy1 02-15-2007 06:33 PM

LEsee....Now just who was the presidential candidate who drove a tank.......

THAT worked out really well.....

lendaddy 02-15-2007 06:37 PM

I have no doubt that Franken is somewhat altruistic in his motives, that doesn't remedy the utter wrongness of his methods or philosophy.

Which is really the annoying part of politics for me. The right can look at the left and praise their intentions while decrying there methods. The left assumes right off the bat that Conservatives are driven by greed.

island911 02-15-2007 06:41 PM

Frankens site (also) leads to few if any positions.

But, I found this:
Quote:

They told me that they’re sick of politics as usual—and they're sick of the usual politicians.

And I’ll tell you what else they told me. It’s different now than it was for me and Franni. When Franni’s sisters were using them to go to college, Pell Grants paid for 90% of a college education. Today, they pay for 40%. And President Bush, with the help of his Republican allies in Congress, have even tried to privatize Social Security. You should have heard Franni when they tried to do that.

It’s different for middle-class families, too. These families are being squeezed harder and harder every year. Maybe you know what it's like to be one health crisis away from bankruptcy. Maybe you, or your parents or grandparents, can't afford prescriptions. Maybe you have kids, and you’re worried about paying for their college. Maybe someone you love is in Iraq, and you don’t know how long they’ll have to stay there, or what will happen when they come home.

Middle-class families today struggle with that feeling of insecurity—the sense that things can fall apart without notice, outside of your control.

Your government should have your back. That should be our mission in Washington, the one FDR gave us during another challenging time: freedom from fear.
His whole website . .and what positon does he have? ...other than "You should have heard Franni when they tried to do that."

Well, there it is, staring you in the face. Both the Bush'ists and Al Franken support the same tired-assed New Deal sociofascist crap.

The question is, how tired are you of voting for AH's who sell you down the river towards serfdom?

iamchappy 02-15-2007 06:51 PM

During the days at SNL Franken and Davis were Dead Heads and pot heads.
I wish Franken would of stayed a comedian, he's not funny anymore.

No Pat, you can't drag someone in your direction unless you have a hold of them in some way. Standing across the room mocking the opposition has little attraction........even if you're right. In reality, you're more likely to repel them.

Moneyguy1 02-15-2007 07:10 PM

len...

I see BOTH sides doing the same thing (since I do, I have been called a LOT of things). Both parties and their pundits te4nd to demean the opposites. But it was really interesting tonight on H&C to hear the rhetoric and arguments by Coulter and Sean. Colms brought up some comments by a General made in December and Coulter said: "That's history and not relevant." Colms quoted something Murtha said about the proposed non binding 'thing' and Sean chimes in "From the guy who was thinking of taking bribes from an Arab." History of two months ago is not valid; history from over a decade ago is. Gotta say, it made me laugh. Inconsistency and hyperbole are the hallmarks of pundits.

It's really not a mystery
whether politics or history
The thing you got to know is
Everything is Show Biz...

"Hitler" in "The Producers"

lendaddy 02-15-2007 07:14 PM

Pundits by their nature ARE the extremes, if they gave any slack they'd have no listener base.

But, even Rush and Hannity have admitted that often the left means well.....

You're confused. The reality is that you're standing in front of a mirror, mocking yourself.

I'm not trying to convince or win you to anything. You have to do that for yourself, if you're capable.

Franken is an efete snob...neo Liberal as it were.
