If GM were smart, they'd be looking for another company to buy THEM out right about now who could swoop in, fire all the union bozos that fart around for six out of eight hours a day (and then expect a six-figure paycheck for the rest of their lives), restructure the company and save it.

This will undoubtedly be their death knell if it goes ahead. And Chrysler's.

For an industry whose product is so intertwined with creativity in design, there is absolutely NO creativity on the part of car manufacturer management. I've seen no evidence of it whatsoever in years.

Not very high...one of the reasons Toyota makes more profit per vehicle than the big 3 is that they don't have any legacy costs past 20 years (pensions, health care, etc.) so why assume the liabilities...
