btw. If one was really going to reunion Mulholland, it would have to be after 9pm on a week night and between Laurel & Beverly Glen (my version anyway)

I'll let you know who wins Daytona

Hmmm... tempting, but I really don't need another car right now.
Besides, that would be money I could have spent on my Porsche!

Anyway... yeah, after 9pm would be more fitting. This is just a way for some of us to get together and meet more than the 1st of the year. It would be cool if more could show, but we start small, yes?

Well, the boys should be at the other end pretty close to now and I'm sittin' here. :( Sorry, garage spring broke and by the time I got it fixed, it was too late to rush up there. BTW, garage springs are not a one man job if you're smart. I'm not and that's why I've had 2 hernia surgeries. Gotta get a roll up door.

We had a fun time. There were five cars, four Porsches and one Chevy Malibu with a very nice and clean engine. Milt, we were not sure if you were joining, so we waited until 2:30 pm.

Only two pics worth posting from me...

We had a Bentley in front of us that was having a little fun with us as well. No real sight seeing was done this trip ;)

BTW:

A V8, pushrod, carburated, steelwheeled, front engined rear drive car won Daytona.

Just a note on the Bentley GT:
• The fastest, four seat production car in the world
• Twin turbo, 6-litre, W12 engine developing 552 bhp (560PS) and 650Nm of torque
• Top speed of 198mph (318km/h)
• 0-60mph in 4.7sec (0-100 km/h in 4.8 sec)
• Maximum torque developed at just 1600rpm and comfort to 6000rpm
• Six speed, paddle operation automatic transmission with full lock-up
• Four-wheel drive with central Torsen differential
• Computer controlled air-sprung multi-link suspension front and rear
• Largest brakes of any car ever put into production

He couldn't lose us. Radu had the chance for a little conversation with the driver. He said, "Yeah, it's fast, but not fast like that!" while pointing at Radu's SC.:D

Thanks for showing up guys!
I personally had a blast.
Sorry you couldn't make it Milt.
Maybe next time.

It was GREAT meeting all of you ... it was fun...:)

The old Chevy didn't do too bad....;)

On the other end of the Valley...
I just got off Stunt Rd. (off of Mulholland HWY) with my blue car... where it was completely fogged in about 2 miles up...

However, within those 2 miles I got totally spanked/ ***** slapped/and punked by a young man in an unassuming white Mitzo Lancer with no Evo tail or markings.... he had the line, the safe moves, and the speed....... AND he waited for me twice... then gone.

I'm either loosing the edge, or he was beautifully driving a very fast sleeper... or both... :(

Where ever he is, my hat's off... :)

All of this is un-condoned... and under the safest controlled conditions...of course...

... and so it goes

Cheers,

Equally sorry I couldn't make it or notify you that my car was being held hostage in the garage.

I think Chucks Malibu was a nice addition!

Chuck's Malibu was VERY cool. Still love that V8 thunder (yes, i watched the beginning of Daytona too).

No worries, Milt. Maybe next weekend, anyone? I know Radu's in.

My car acted up again going home, but was minor. I did not lose power. Seemed like at about 2500 RPM, when I put my foot on the gas lightly, it would start to "hesitate", but again, very minor. I remembered that I have an issue with my #3 plug wire. Early December, I noticed that there was arcing going on at the distributer. When #3 was reseated, the arc went away and the engine seemed a little smoother. Maybe this is causing the problem? Mulholland is quite bumpy. Maybe the bumps are causing the wire to arc?

Oh yeah, I replaced the spark plug wires about 5-6 years ago. They do need to be replaced, mainly do to #3, but I cannot afford them now. I will try re-seating the wires again and see if this helps for the moment.

Milt: I will PM my cell number, so you can call next time.

Thanks guys that was fun. My wife even dug it. Wasn't sure how that was going to turn out. She wants to know where her picture is. We ended up going down Hayvenhurst looking for a bathroom and took the 134 home which cut right through the traffic and we were home in no time. Thanks again...Kevin

She was standing on the other side of the street. She needs to be next to one of the p-cars for a picture ;)

Chuck, Kevin, Dave, and of course Derek thanks for comming out and play. It turned out awesome. hope to see you guys again next weekend- that goes for you too Milt and whoever wants to show up. Jeremy? (I know you're reading this)...
highlight of the day - Outrunning a car with more Hp than all of our P- cars together....(more or less)....not to mention the price tag..

slodave 02-18-2007 07:01 PM

Hey Radu - Addendum to our conversation about the steel line brake cables.... I managed to lock up the rear wheels for a moment because of them. Was comping into one of the corners while you and I were "following" the Bentley and I guess there was some gravel on the road. Came into the corner a little quick, hit the brakes a little hard and lockup - just a brief second before I let up on the brake pedal. Good thing it was a straight line brake.

You and Derek need to go up to Willow one day and drive your 911s around. It is a blast and more fun, since you can actually go above the speed limit. ;)

Chuck: Here's one of your car from Dec. 13th...
