How do they get away with it?

Simple. You go slower.

I've done this when racing my 944. If you can steal the inside line, you have to go through the corner at a slower speed than when on the "proper" line. But you just made the car you overtook to slow even more to stay outside.

Both cars are at less than optimum speed, but the guy who gets the inside makes a clean pass, and can get back on throttle a bit sooner than the opponent.

Great, I have not done much reading on this, watched a few races on Speed Channel. There was an instance earlier in the 2006 season where a Caddy CTS passed two Porsches at once. It may of been the same race where a Mustang had it's hood flung off but kept going. I'd like to know a little more about that one pass, a lot happening at once.

Things like that are why racing laps are not as fast as qualifying.

Qualifying is just your fastest flying lap. Racing is a mental chess game at tripple digit speeds.

He lifted. A Subaru will save you from many situations that are far beyond where you may think it's over, but not if you lift and just wiggle the steering wheel a bit.

What's that he says right before the uphill ?
I assume referring to the Porsche driver - "amateur he took it in 4th gear" ( ? )

That's what it sounded like - but maybe not.

Beginners should not be allowed out with a camera - They can bring out the worst in even the normally level headed.
