Yeah, but my Subaru has dual air bags, side curtain airbags and a 5 star crash rating, so you probably won't catch me dead either.
And you?Oh, and its a Outback wagon, so no need to prove nuthin, to no one, no how.

nineoneone: "I don't care who is driving one of those Subarus what evers and how much hp it has, I think they are ugly as a car can get without being a p.o.s rolls canhardly rolls down hill great, canhardly push it up the next hill....."
Still my favorite quote from this riveting thread...

As a fellow pelicanite's sig once said "Money cant buy happiness, but somehow i feel better crying in a porsche than a kia". Anyhow in some ways im glad there arnt many fast or cool cars around my town. And being persuaded to race is one of them. Im sure id be compelled to race if i were egged on by an sti. Being a young chap myself (21). Plus since there arnt many nice cars it makes mine look that much better

No way is anyone gonna convince me that a Subaru is a more capable sports car than my 3.2 911, even if the Subaru has more power, acceleration, or even grip. I guess I'm irrational that way.
On the "everyone wants to race a 911" topic, this happens to me all of the time. Four separate times that I can recall offhand. On three of these occasions the other guy lost it and wrecked his car. First was a red Camaro that wrecked and ended up in a field. Second was one Japanese made poopwagon, I can't remember which type since they all look the same, lol. Third was a Firebird that lost control and veered across three lanes of traffic before crashing into a bus stop. The fourth was a mini truck that was trying to pass me in the moutains near here. I made it sort of "sporting" for him to get by me. He disappeard into the distance doing 85+mph in the twisties. I came across his truck about 2 miles later on the side of the road, after seeing all sorts of black marks and smoke all over the road. I'd say the kid had to have the skills of Michael Schumacher to save his truck from complete destruction. Anyway, he was driving at about 5-10 mph when I caught up to him. Wanna wager that he had to clean off his car seats when he got home? Like I said, the more I drive my 911, the more I think I'm irrationally convinced that it is more of a GT/ racer than even a more "pure" "racer". |

Yeah Danny, give us your exact lattitude and longitude, hours when you're away, and if not too much trouble, the code to your burglar alarm....

the WRX is hard to beat bang-for-your-bucks but unfortunately they tend to attract the same the same type of driver ie one that is always up your ass or weaving in and out of lanes etc a good friend of mine had a 2002 wrx (not sti) and i tell you it wasn't that quick. my '76 would match it in drag...that was until he did the exhaust and wound up the boost. now he beats me top end. and the brakes sucked - they'd be cooked after a few hard stops...that and they have no SOUL

I thought water was for drinking, and vinegar was for douches and salad dressing?

(Note: This offer is not good for dry pavement, track days - unless in a pouring deluge, or stop light racing. I will use my 914 for that. And believe me, my 914 is ugly too.) ![]() The trap has been set. Now I will sit back and wait for the stick to fall. Muahahaha.

I don't know if this has shown up yet, I didn't read through the whole thread, but, I just saw a Subaru add, they advertise in the add that they are faster than a PORSCHE.
I have raced WRXs, SRT4s, and EVOs with my Buick and always beat them, but never race anything with the Porsche. Again though, most of the people that want to race my Porsche are driving BMW M3s. They never try the Buick. |
