Anyone going to see this fight?
I once met him briefly in Kelley's bar in Kansas City Missouri. That was a very long time ago. K.T. 1973 911 E 2.4 MFI 1983 911 SC 1978 911 SC 1965 Devin "D" / 1967 912 Power Plant |

Yeah, he was pretty much run out of boxing when he went HIV positive. Had to go to Japan to fight or something. Had about the meanest left hook on the planet for awhile. So is he a welterweight by now?

What is interesting about this Tommy Morrison story is how he
is now saying that he is HIV-Free and that the initial diagnosis 16 years ago was False. How could he live for 16 years thinking he had HIV when he actually didnt? Wouldnt they have him on constant testing and drug treatments?? Now he says that he has had several recent tests all which turn up Negative. I dont get it. Something is not proper with that logic. One thing is for sure though: His recent photos look great. The guy is totally in shape and buffed out. Perhaps he is on the "juice" but still for an HIV-Whatever type person he looks ripped up. If the boxing comeback doesnt go well, perhaps he could try pro wrestling ![]() The shades are a little Elton--Johnish though...not sure if they do much for his image, unless the fight is being held in Vegas. Maybe in the same way Lance won the Tour "because" (as opposed to "in spite of") cancer, Tommy will be champ "because" of AIDS. Hell, he's a step ahead of Lance as it is; he was born half nuts.

I've heard that Magic Johnson tests negative on HIV tests. If you have the loot, these days you can basically live with HIV forever. You never really get rid of it, but it does you no real harm. Its just that the cocktail of drugs is stupid expensive.

I heard that Magic has been on an experimental drug for the last 10 yrs. Not FDA approved, sold in europe, the name slips my mind. It is said to cost him $60k a month for his treatments.
I know its ignorant to say but I'd be damned if I'd get in the ring with Tommy. A cut, some blood in the eyes and that could be bad. |

I rember seeing him years ago on ESPN, something of a great white hope at that time. He never won any big fights but destroyed anyone below his ability.

Tommy Morrison Gets A Knockout
CHESTER, W.Va. (AP) _ Former WBO heavyweight champion and Oklahoma native Tommy Morrison stops John Castle in the second round in his return to the ring, 11 years after testing positive for the virus that causes AIDS. The 38-year-old Morrison now claims he has no trace of the AIDS virus after taking several HIV tests. He dropped Castle last night with a left hook to the head midway through the second of the scheduled four-round fight at Mountaineer Racetrack and Gaming Resort in Chester, West Virginia. Castle slowly got up and referee Dave Johnson counted to eight before stopping the match. Morrison, who until that point had landed few punches, fell to his knees afterward and raised his arms skyward. Morrison is from Jay, Oklahoma. He won the WBO title in 1993 by outpointing George Foreman. He lost it later that year. Morrison, who was featured in the movie ``Rocky 5,'' also served a couple of years in an Arkansas prison on drug and weapons charges. His career record is now 47-3-and-1. Tommy was only a second tier fighter in his prime. He beat Foreman, but that's about it. I would not get in the ring with him because of his HIV. Why did it take so long to show a negative test? I suspect sham-a-lama!
