What do you mean?
We Brits always dress like that for routine chores - washing the car, doing the gardening, etc.

BRPORSCHE - the 'dude' is Prince Phillip, the 'chick' must be Princess Anne.

I remember watching the "old lady on the left"'s coronation on black & white TV. As a kid, I thought she looked really good. I think she was something like 21 years old at the time.

Up on current affairs, are you?

The Queen and Phillip are Anne's and Charles parents.

BRPORSCHE 02-27-2007 10:21 AM

milt, I really need to brush up on my british monarchy family tree!

Also if the Queen and Philip are married, shouldnt that make him King and not Prince Philip?

oldE 02-27-2007 10:45 AM

Phillip, before he married the Princess Elizabeth, was Phillip of Macedonia. Like Albert, consort to Her Majesty Queen Victoria, he did not become King when she ascended to the throne.
HRH Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip are the parents of Prince Charles, Princess Anne, and Princes Andrew and Edward.
Charles is first in line to the throne, followed by his sons, William and Harry.

God Save The Queen!

Elizabeth is of the Royal blood line, while Philip was an outsider. Therefore, she is Queen. Since King, as a title, trumps Queen, he cannot use the title because he is not of the bloodline - he cannot usurp her power, and he will never rule.

In a different scenario, if the Crown goes to a male, he becomes King. His wife would become queen since that is a lower title. Should he die though, like Philip she can not rule - the first male child would ascend to the throne. And if the king died childless, so dies the Monarchy.

(I think I have that straight...)

In the case of a childless marriage, I think it passes to the nearest male relative (i.e. a cousin), subject to approval of Parliament.

cashflyer 02-27-2007 01:26 PM

You may be correct, Pat.

I've read historical accounts of royal lines that died out, but I can't see them ever letting this one go.
