There are some pretty talented singers on American Idol

Puts Britney, Justin, J-Lo and others like them to shame. Too bad the Idol singers aren't as pretty as the three I mentioned above. The AI singers may never reach superstar status because of this. Just look at Clay Aiken. Great voice, fruity Howdy-Doody.

I dunno, I dont mean to be contradictory...but I watched the
entire AI show this past week and I really wasnt impressed.

I have some extensive experience with music...
so I know what I hear is pretty much true.

What I heard from most of the guys was thin vocals, lacking
confidence and individuality. The pitch was reasonably good
but they even had trouble matching pitch in many spots.

The guy who did "Lets Get it On" was pretty bad...the gay kid
was a joke....

The best 2 were the fat guy with the beard and hot wife and the
guy who did the "Jamroiquai" song. He was very close to the
original, but as Simon commented...he was basically a copy.

So, I wasnt impressed... most of what Simon says is actually
pretty true.

I was surprised actually that the talent at AI wasnt any better...
and Im po'd that they wont let anyone over 30 come on otherwise
I would go on there and rock the house.

Aretha Franklin wouldn't get any R.E.S.P.E.C.T. in what passes for a music market today...

Sonic, you should've seen the show last night. The women are a whole heck of a lot better than the guys this year. The one short black chick with no neck has a superb voice.

The one with the small eyes?

The heavy black girl can sing but I don't think she'll win.

+1....and how! Man, what a set of pipes!!! (edit) Range, pitch, she had it all. Too bad music today is so visually oriented. I could put this girl's singing on the stereo & listen all day. 100% ear candy. Anotella who???

The tramp from Jersey sounded like crap, but with wet t-shirt pictures on the web, she'll get the votes this week.

Ok I'll +1 that

Hey Jennifer Hudson is no glamour girl...and her vocal
performance on the Academy Awards wasnt "all that" either.

Maybe Im just too critical of their voices and should focus more
on their other attibutes.

And I suspect Janis Joplin would be laughed off the stage. There's no need to belt one out from the heart any more.
