Damn, I wish I had room. That thing is awesome.

dd74... that cracks me up. The tail pipe is conveniently located and prius window height! One quick blip of the throttle when she is stopped next to you at a light and...

My favourite thing about Mog design is how the axles sit higher than the hubs. Clearance is all important in an off roader and this seems like such an obvious solution yet I have never seen anyone else do this.

didja take that last pic standing up underneath it..? ;)

Wow! That is a truck..
Unimog... whats that story with that brand, I've never heard about it... is that a post-war creation kind of like the beetle? Where to find more info about Unimog? |

A buddy of mine also has a 406 but it's not in nearly as good of shape as this one. They are really easy to work on too since everything is visible. I always get a chuckle when we drain the diffs because a 5 gallon bucket with a funnel on top fits underneath. Not very many other vehicles you can do that to! |
You can also help move the neighborhood with a Unimog.

Wow - we are selling our Toy LC now because it is "too big" - but this is an awesome replacement. "Honey, I am going to downsize us to a 4 seater..." ;)

Damn cool truck cnielsen... You've got me seriously considering selling my winter vehicle (mid-size truck) for one of these.... My truck is not a 4X4 and I have been wishing it was for those nasty winter days when I refuse to call in to work and limp along our rural roads. A used Unimog would be a fun truck as well as very usefull.
Very cool! Although I was also wondering about long term reliability but you seem to have answered that question above. Eric |
A used Unimog is not like a used chevy blazer or even a used land cruiser. These are not built like regular cars. They are built to be absolute work horses till something kills them. When is the last time you heard of an old mercedes diesel motor wearing out? Regular fluid changes and updating your ipod playlist are all that this truck will need for a long, long time.

What is the typical fuel usage?
|
14-15mpg... hard to calculate because the speedo is in KM/HR.

So this is the first extended cab I've seen. Is it a custom job of a factory extended cab?
This is a very nice unit but slightly out of my current budget for a mog purchase. Does this one have the fast axles? |
I love unimogs. They resemble the old jeep fc-150 and 170's. Gotta love those portal axles though. i think the hummer h1s use portal axles also.
Heres a pic of a fc-150 <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17/porsche930dude/Buck20Toenges20196420FC-150-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a> |
Hummer does not use portal axles, standard CVs.
