can be a bit risky - beware of camera mounts, dulling sprays, and disrespectful crew members.
Protect your interests with detailed up to date digital photos. Contract should clearly state compensation policy (regarding any damage).
I would NEVER rent my Porsche to a production company.

What kind of cars? Ask who would be driving them, what they'll be used for, like Creature said, I wouldn't do it with anything valuable. They'll just let a teamster figure out how to drive it.

Will your insurance cover this or will the studio provide insurance? That's the only thing I would want to know...

studio is covering all aspects of insurance. these are not "HERO" cars. hero cars are used in chases etc. these will basically be filling up mansion here to depict high end mega-buck party front of house setting. all will be picked up by trailer and returned by trailer. no driving at all. will be used 3-6 days. we are talking at least 6-9 vehicles, which equals some pretty decent bucks. really i dont even know name of movie yet. other setting supposedly is a parking lot w/lots of 80's vehicles. thanks for the info.

I rented one of my cars out for a group of Phone sex commercial(I know, you guys are really shocked) a while back, they paid well and paid to have it detailed (my choice of detailer) too. I got to be on set and watch the whole thing and even got a copy And that I would have paid for My black SC was also in a movie shot back in the 80s too.

Personally, I would write those things into the contract that you do and do not want done or anything else I wanted to protect the cars. Plus I might be there to do the driving/moving or supervise anything else going on.

If it's any comfort, they do not rent cars for chase scenes. I'm sure that your cars will be fine in the circumstances that you describe.

hey late breaking developments....................since i didnt fall off turnip truck recently, and at the urging of some amigos, i tried(tried) a background check on "universal" studio guy.

did back check on phone........he lives in san dago. ok that checks.

asked for biz card...........couldnt furnish. hmmmm?

called detail guy, asked what he had seen and he was doing vehicles for another car lot allegedly were furnishing cars.

weekend contract negotiation........hmmmmmm?

called west hollyweird POLICE DEPT. they handle all security for universal studios. couldnt provide verification of employment.

e-mail transportation dept. for verification. e comes back undeliverable..........HHHHHHMMMMMMMM?

e-mailed another clown in the drama........you guessed it. no return e.

BUT I DO I GET A PHONE CALL FROM UNIVERSAL STUDIO GUY THAT THEY NO LONGER WANT TO USE VEHICLES, due to me asking for verification of employment.

WOW!

moral to this story..........VERIFY/VERIFY/VERIFY------ CYA!

i even had family members wanting me to go to law office monday w/contract due to prior studio shenanagins and other assorted horror stories!

My neighbor does this all the time and always gets his cars back fully detailed and with full tanks of gas. They're also taken to and from the shoots on flatbeds. I can probably get you more info. if you want.
