Talk to people who have done it, and go to some internet support groups. They can help you on the pitfalls and what do say or not to say. Doing it the right way can save you months and thousands.

Really there is nothing to talk about.

You are a US citizen married to a foreign national, you have the right to apply for a US Permanent Resident card and citizenship for your spouse.

No magic, no gimmicks. Couple of forms, some money, few visits to the immigration office, lots of patience and you are done.

Get a specialized lawyer (hispanic/asian know better) if you don't want deal with some of the filings with immigrations but will not save much time. Call me been thru that for Green Card and Citizenship.

If she is here now, you qualify for a Green Card right away. It's a matter of paperwork, interviews, etc. I don't know what the wait is these days, l but it varies from office to office. They will do an interview to make sure the marriage is not a sham. That gets you the 2 year conditional Green Card. Then, about 6 months before that one expires you have to apply for the unconditional permanance residence.

In the mean time, she should not leave the country for anything. She should be able to get the visas done at the Chinese consulate in DC, Chicago or LA.

One reason to talk to various people is that there is a vast difference in the waiting time for which office you go to. Had a friend who got his done in Houston in a matter of months. Another friend did his in Phoenix (both Russian ladies) and it took over two years.
