Whipped: etymology and examples?
 

So I've been going out with this chick for a little over a month. Over the past two weekends, I went with her to a fitness 'boot camp' which is nothing more than an instructor-led structured exercise program at her gym that lasts about an hour.

I mentioned said attentendance to a co-worker, and his response "With all due respect, you don't seem like the kind kind of guy who'd be whipped" With this in mind, I laid the question before another friend, but before I could even finish the backstory, he said "Sounds like you're whipped!"

So what is whipped - I guess it is something other than what I thought it was. For the record, I don't think I am whipped. I went to this boot camp because I need the exercise, and a structured environment is a great way to get it.

Basically, it's our manly duty to reject any suggestion of self improvement. Hell Thom, you know that!

Funny. If you do anything she suggests, or is remotely interested in you are whipped.

Whipped- typically the male human species, who willingly or otherwise gives up control of his gonads in favor of courting, dating, or otherwise trying to get into the pants of the female human species, by participating in events, activities and the like, of which he would not normally participate. After such courting, dating, and/or successfully getting into aforementioned pants of female human species, the gonads of the human male species are typically rendered useless until such time that female human species temporarily revokes suspension in favor of her self-serving pleasure. Gonads of such human male species typically reside in a "silk purse", to which the draw strings will only be opened by female human species. It is only on rare occasions that the gonads of the male human species actually reside with, and/or accompany said male human species on outings, events, or attempts to get into the pants of a different female human species.....

In my experience, 90% of the time, the person telling you "der der der der.... sounds like you're whipped" has not been with a woman in years.

I can't tell you how many times people would say I was whipped. One of the worst guys was known affectionately as the "sexual camel".

Doing something with your lady doesn't make you whipped. Canceling on your best drinking buddy's b-day/night out with the guys at the last minute/Police reunion concert, etc. because your lady wants you to go see a chick flick with her.... well that is whipped.

I see alot of that. It makes me sick.

This group that you're asking input from.....is the same group that thinks diplomacy just shows weakness and our best and only option is to turn the Middle East and any other region that fails to salute our flag into a glass parking lot and/or a radioactive inferno. Some of these guys believe the perfect woman is about 3' tall with a head that's flat on top. Consider the source as you evaluate the helpful suggestions.

Absolutely. And a real man would reject any "self improvement" suggestions. We're perfect just the way we are!

This is how the conversation should have gone;

Girl: "Thom, do you wanna go to fitness boot camp with me?"

Thom: "Why the hell would I do that? ... Bring me a beer."

I've been married for nearly 25 years. Am I whipped? Let's put it this way...that guy on the cover of the magazine looks like a stud to me. He's not even wearing an apron.
