Putin

I find it somewhat ironic at those that foam at the mouth over Bush yet never mention Putin and his real crackdown on anyone with whom he disagrees:

Putin's not our Prez / we don't live in Russia. What's so hard to understand about that?

legion 03-06-2007 12:51 PM

Yes, but some of the things Putin has done (like break up Yukos) have had a far greater affect on things Bush has been blamed for (like high oil prices).

What does that have to do with anything? We have enough people on the OT forum who do not live in America who feel that its more than right to keep coming on an American forum telling us what a crappy country, President, laws, military, immigration policy and so on!

Course when someone reminds them that they might keep their nose out of our country they get bent out of shape. They want their cake and to eat it as well. Hopefully they will learn someday after we explain it to them for the 1000'th time.

So, should we nuke him? I think we can only control so many things. If Putin want to turn Russia back into a police state, I guess he will.

Joe, stop crying about the non-Americans here.

Putin' you right foot in, putin' your right foot out. You put your right foot in and you shake it all about. You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around. That's what it's all about.

Russia is enjoying a resurgence of wealth and power, which Putin is aggressively using. The reason is their reserves of oil and natural gas. If the US and other big oil consumers cut back oil consumption, oil prices would fall and Russian power would decline. Another example of how reducing our oil consumption through conservation and alternative energy is vital to US national security.

The Russians have plenty of oil and other natural resources. And they don't have every driveway with a gas-guzzling SUV. Their future looks good.

The U.S. is dependent on foreign oil, still has a consumption mentality, is wasting resources in the Middle East, and saddled with poor, short-sighted political leadership. But it isn't too late. This is a very rich country.

That's a false statementy in it's implication, but virtually all of the facts pointed out by those on this forum from countries other than America have a right to complain about any activity outside the borders of America since those activities affect their lives. That affect has been mostly negative for the last 6 years, and shows signs of becoming much worse.

Again, just to reinforce the point, any activity by the US government outside the borders of America come under the full scrutiny of anyone in other countries, they have the full authority to try to stop those activities if they desire, and rightfully so.
