Bacterial eye infection for my brother..not pretty (pic)
The hits keep comin'
So my brother is still struggling with his heart issues and now this. He is really bad about keeping his contacts in too long, not cleaning them properly, using them too long, etc.... Now they are talking corneal transplant on Friday as the bacteria has eaten it away. This happened in a matter of 24-36 hours. I don't really know the details on what he can expect moving forward yet. Show this to your young kids with contacts to remind them what can happen if they don't care for them properly.

Wow, as a contact lens wearer that hits home. A former co-worker caught a similar infection very early on (lucky!). He couldn't wear contacts for a year afterwards. Good luck to your brother. He is in for quite an experience.

wife spent 4 days in intensive care - due to eye infection - eyesight permanently damaged. Tell your bro to treat this VERY seriously.

He's been to four eye doctors in the last two days. They have him on antibiotic eyedrops every 30 minutes. At his appointment this morning they said they saw slight improvement but a corneal transplant is still very possible.

Looks like a corneal ulcer with impending perforation. Could loose the eye in less than 24 hrs even with intensive treatment. Consider a tertiery care center with a cornea specialist, such as the Kellogg Eye Center in Ann Arbor ASAP, if your brother is in Michigan also. If you need a name, PM me. Good luck.

He is, I will ask who his specialist is. The specialist this morning said it showed improvement from yesterday which I'm taking as a very good sign (should I?). Thank you for the kind offer and I will pass the info on.
