Daughter bought new car-What a deal!!

I'm just throwing this out for discussion. My daughter bought a New Mazda 6 4 dr, auto. fully loaded for $14,000. It listed for 19,600 on their web site. Now in my book, 5500.00 offretail is a REALLY a good deal. Are other Japanesse cars going for this kind of discount? Is the YEN that much lower? Or are they DUMPING cars here just to sell. She loves it, as a ny young girl would, her first new car, but I could'nt walk in to a GM dealer and get a deal like that, could I?

If I were her dad, I'd be worried about what she did in order to score such a deal. . .

J/K - that's a great deal and she must have great negotiating skills!

Well... it depends. You say it was new, is it an '06 or an '07? Also, the dealer "listed 19,600 as retail on their website". What was the actual MSRP sticker price printed on the window? Excellent car, by the way.

I just got a great deal on my 2007 Mazdaspeed3, but I got the "employee discount" so that's what trimmed $2k off the price. The "out of the door" price for the 2007 MS3 Sport Pkg was $21,600. Not too shabby for a 263hp hatchback that will go 155mph! That also price includes the 60,000 mile extended, bumper-to-bumper warranty.

My wife's got a V6 Mazda 6 and it's a great car (except for the shifter -- which is notchy but getting better as it ages). For some reason though it just doesn't seem to have the marketing oomph behind it that the Acura TSX has. Oh well, next week the Speet Touring season starts again and we can see how the two cars stack up against each other on the track, at least in 4-cylinder form.
