Ron Paul Announces...

Congressman Ron Paul formerly annouced his decision to seek the office of president of the US government today.

commentary:

Ron Paul in the Polls
Posted by Lew Rockwell at 02:02 PM

With virtually only internet attention, Ron is already at 2% in the latest CNN presidential poll, tied with Hagel, Gilmore, and Brownback, and ahead of Huckabee, Tancredo, and Thompson. My prediction: a steady increase in his poll standing. (Thanks to Johnny Kramer.)

Shame on Hardball for ignoring Ron Paul
Posted by James Ostrowski at 07:08 PM

I'm a big fan of Hardball on MSNBC but they dropped the ball by ignoring Ron Paul's announcement today. It was all about Hagel, who's having a Hamlet problem in deciding whether to run. Sorry Chuck, indecisive leadership is an oxymoron.

But as I said before, when Paul emerges as a major candidate, it will show that the mainstream media monopoly is over and that the internet is where the action is. Even the host this morning on C-SPAN noted that Ron was all over the web.

An interesting comparison between Congressman Ron Paul's voting record with Senator Chuck Hagel's record.

Party on, Pat.

He hasn't a snowball's chance in hell. But maybe if he could confess to cheating on his wife and then he could get the 'bounce' that Newt did last weekend.

Maybe there's an old video of him and Anna Nicole Smith out there, waiting.

Another statement of support:

Greatest Champion of Conservative Principles

"In fact, there are at least a few good conservative presidential candidates worth supporting most notably Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) who is probably the greatest champion of conservative principles we have seen in Congress in the past quarter century."

All seven of whom don't have a snowball's chance in hell.

You'd think somebody as wise as Lew Rockwell (pbuh) would know that with a margin of error so huge, it is folly to say that somebody is "tied" or "ahead".

I think Ron Paul running could be a good thing as it could open up discussion on important topics of the day and not vote splitter topics like gay adoption and the like.

The important topic of the day that Ron Paul appears unable to bring up is reducing the Federal debt.

I think it's fair to say that Congressman Paul has mentioned the debt a time or two...

1. Monetary Policy and the State of the Economy
2. Another Supplemental Spending Bill for the War in Iraq
3. Inflation and War Finance
4. Monetary Inflation Is the Problem
5. Do Tax Cuts Cost the Government Money?

Paul ain't in it to win it. He wants to influence the debate. Most low tier candidates know this and still do it.

He is talking about making the current tax cuts permanent and doing away with the estate tax. Voodoo economics.

Not with spending cuts larger than the tax cuts.

Estate taxes are the worst sort of sociofascism.

The important thing is to stop interference of the nanny state with each person deciding for him or herself where best to spend their wealth.

Please refer to Dr. Paul's longstanding voting record. If you are looking for someone who does not change with the flavour of the day you will see it there. He has one of the most stable voting records of any Representative. That counts for alot in my book, whether I agree with him on all topics or not. The man does have a moral compass, the very thing Americans crucified President Ford for and then praised him at his death. Just a thought.

Ron Paul is a perfect example that there are stupdier people in the world than himself. Those people are called Texans.

You might say he is tied for dead last in the run at the WH.

Again: confusing deficit reduction with debt reduction is fine for attracting Joe Sixpack's vote, but I'd like to see a debt reduction plan.

Party on Pat is about right...Hey Pat where is Wayne and Garth...

For a guy that has all the facts and how they get interpeted as gobble de gouk is beyond me. He must have used his head as a hammer one too many a times and it screwed up all the wiring in his head. Pat is on Pluto which isn't even a Planet anymore.

Pat why don't U just shut up and come back when you have a plan that has a real world application instead of all this tin foil fantasy stuff that keeps dribbling outa your mouth like drool.

I'm shocked there are still candidates entering the Presidential race.

After all, hasn't the media already nominated Hillary, Guiliani and Obama? That's all they talk about. Mr 9/11, Bill's wife and the PC candidate.

Howard Dean was the media's darling too and he couldn't get much traction when it actually came to primary voters. Ditto with John McCain in 2000.

When was the last time the front runner a year before primary season actually became the candidate?

You can have both, cut out nanny state spending does that.

1. Eliminate welfare, including those euphemistically called "entitlements".
2. Eliminate corporate welfare.
3. Eliminate 90% of the military.
4. Eliminate international welfare, aka foreign aid.
5. Do we need more?

I'm not talking about trimming fat from the budget, I'm talking about removing whole limbs from the federal octopus.

While Ron Paul may not be able to achieve what I want totally, if achieves even 10%, I'll enjoy every bit of that.
