About a year ago they started carrying those jugs of 15W-50 again after popular outcry. It's such a luxury to be able get those again. I used to have to go to Henderson, NV for it, when they ran out, ordered Motul by mail for $$$$.

I just bought Win 7 Pro full version for less than $300. That took about a nano-second to pull the trigger on.

last time i stepped into a walmart was in AZ to buy a hunting license. Bishop!!

inexpensive oil might make me revisit this..

my MIL buys me mobil 1 from costco. she buys ALOT of oil. i do all of her cars, and there is more than enough to take care of mine..the lady hates owing folks. weird, really. not so sure she knows that cars require an oil filter..i just pick those up 3 at a time for each car too!! i hope she never finds out..or i may end up with a case of FRAM!

The walmart supertech brand synthetic oil seems pretty good too, about 15 bucks a jug. I use it instead of dino oil for about the same price.

I heard a few places like Walmart were not actually "real" Mobil 1 but rebranded castrol under license and that the stuff the dealership carries is real Mobil 1.

I will confirm in a couple of weeks

I'd like to know about that, but Castrol is good stuff too. I've been using the 5 qt. jugs of M1 for many years now, coming up on my sixth summer in AZ, and still only use about a qt. every 2500-3000 miles. So, if it's Castrol, I'm fine with it.

Mobil has been off loading some oil as of late that may or may not be in spec. I suggest if you can to send in a reference sample for oil analysis - if you need a sample bottle and analysis let me know....I know a guy

Don't Forget Amazon...

Yesterday I ordered 5 cases of Mobil 1 ESP Formula M 5w40.
$13/qt. most places.
.
Mobil 1 105856-CASE M 5W-40 ESP Formula Motor Oil - 1 Quart, (Pack of 6) : Amazon.com : Automotive
.
I learned about this oil after I bought my MB Sprinter Turbo-Diesel RV. MB demanded its use. Egads! 13 qts. of it in their V-6.
(sold the rig...no more need)
.
Anyway, my new Fiat Abarth wants this elixir, too.

So its common knowledge that Mobil One is practicing large scale fraud?

Lube, I would gladly send you a sample and I'll split 50%/50% with you any potential whistle blower wind falls.

All the long drawn out threads about oil and now its not just the oil, but were you buy it also. Pay full retail or you get what you pay for....... I'm confused now.

What test are we talking about here? The 5 qt. jugs vs. the 1 qt. bottles to see if they both have the exact same oil? AFAIK, Castrol is pretty good stuff. I've only ever (knowingly) used their dino oil. And it was fine. If they're supplying Mobil 1's stock for the 5 qt. jugs, that sounds like false advertising to me, but is not necessarily inferior product.

Sure! I'll pay for the analysis at a private lab. Just send me the juice...

Consumer Reports did a piece years ago and found that packaged oil wasn't what it said it was regarding viscosity...

We're talking about saving in the ballpark of $1/qt by buying in bulk. I seriously doubt Mobil is selling Walmart different oil to recoup the lower sale price. Like all things Walmart, they are able to buy in massive quantity and therefore negotiate significantly lower prices with suppliers. I pick up my oil at Walmart and my filter at the auto parts store, oil and fishing worms are really the only reasons that I visit Walmart.

I know you're better than that at math. Around here Mobil 1 individual bottles run $8.47 per. That's more than $3 per qt. more expensive than the 5 qt. jugs. 13 qts. for my 993, which I can also use in my bike, makes the jugs a no-brainer.
