I thought the same thing.

Complain about the producers, people raise a fuss, producers change mind.......everyone happy!
Sheesh.

It's broadcast on one of the BBC channels. I think it's equivalent to a PBS broadcast here in the US.

If true, they can probably leave and start their own show, "Three Blokes and Their Cars", or something like that. The show is about them and their unusual relationship with a variety of transportation machines.

The producers can't replace the three presenters and have the same show. However, if they're under contract, that's a different matter for their lawyers to straighten out.

But let's hope they're back real soon. I'm even hoping they'd come here and replace some of our "classic" shows like "Who Wants to be a Runway Survivor/Dancer?", "American Idle" or "Extreme Makeover - Cold Case".

it's a government show. I'm sure that changes things quite a bit...

Just a 'quick correction'...

The BBC is a publically funded broadcaster...but not a government body....

The only bit of 'government' imposed broadcasting is the obligation to put both sides of the argument to the public...like the road pricing issue...

The BBC use the public funding to 'buy' or comission private companies or their own to make programmes.

In the case of JC I think there is an issue if whether or not they want to carry on buying the show....There has been a lot of back lash from the Hamster's accident and it has affected ALL car shows on UK TV, not just Top Gear...

He probably knows that nobady has purchased or order the next series, whilst the Beeb knows it wants to, but not for how much or when...

It will be interesting to see what happens.

I love it, according to the article the producers want a car show with more celebrities and fewer cars.

Its a government show. Sigh. Its difivcult to convince those who dont have a BBC, ABC or CBC or such on the merits of a proper publcily funded public broadcaster.

A successful legacy of empire. Have a pint, on the colonies.

Some good news for all Top Gear fans. It will be back!!

Quote:
JEREMY Clarkson has confirmed he will be returning to front a new series of Top Gear.

The TV presenter, 46, left the future of the BBC2 show in doubt last week after telling viewers there would "not be a new series".

But last night he said: "Everyone seems to think the programme is finished or that I've left.

"Well, sorry to disappoint you all but it isn't and I haven't. Top Gear... will be back in the autumn."

Well, sorry to let the wind out of your sails but I watch the BBC every day here at home on satellite.

These colonies stopped financing the UK over 200 years ago. Hope you enjoy it...

Yes the Beeb services are great, especially for those living under repressive regimes where access to meaningful information is difficult.

Agree and assume that you are working to try to get it aired in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Nepal, China and so on... are'nt you?
